Generally, yes. If Nashville does not match, they get the next 4 1st rounders.
- Jsaquella

And that would be a gross underpayment for his talents.

It sounds petty, but it would seem as though Nashville would likely give it right back to us.

Who are our potential players that they could do this too? Giroux, Coots, Schenn?

Breaking: Shea Weber agrees to offer sheet with Philadelphia. 14 years, upwards of $100 mil. Preds have 7 days to match. Wow!!

k so since he's agreed to a sheet with the Flyers that means the only team who can get him as of now are the Preds, correct?

Yes, on a few occasions. Dustin Penner was the first player to sign an offer sheet that wasn't matched.

The Flyers offer sheeted Ryan Kelser. The Oilers handed Thomas Vanek a big sheet, too.

This is what I was wondering. Can Preds trade him before 7 days expire, or is it down to us and Nashville?

Yes. If Nashville refuses to match the Flyers will lose draft picks. If Nashville does match, they keep Weber, with the 14 year deal and can not trade him for one calendar year.

Wow. That came out of nowhere. God I hope Nashville matches.

What kind of salary has to be moved to fit him in at around 9 per?

Can the Flyers increase the offer if Nashville matches, making it a bidding war? or is the ball completely in nashville's court? Sorry just wanna tie the loose ends up.

How about the deal. 14 years? That takes him to age 40...

I swear, love him or hate him, it's impossible to deny that Homer has the biggest, brassiest balls of any GM in hockey. This is... wow. Just... wow.

Actually, Weber's cap hit will be less than Parise and Suter.

So that's why I couldn't get to sleep...

Weber must have been getting tired of waiting, too, for him to sign it.

The two teams have a good rapport trade-wise. This is very interesting (nod to watson).

And now, a musical interlude for you orators of all things Flyers (if you so choose) -

Nope. Weber will either be a Flyer or Predator next season, with a new 14 year deal. He can't be traded, renegotiate or anything else.

I guess Columbus is now our go-to-make-a-trade team.
