I got hooked on hockey in 97. That team was my favorite...
Lindros
LeClair
Renberg
Brindy
Howerchuk
Zubrus
Podein
Klatt
Otto
Prospel
Kordic
Desjardins
Therien
Niinimaa
Dykhuis
Coffey
Svboda
Hextall
Snow

I know I have to be forgetting someone.... Wasnt this the year of the Dan line? But I dont think they played in the playoffs right?

- RooNosHockey

I've loved hockey all my life and I knew and loved LeClair, Lindros, Recchi, etc. but I didn't really start to get into the the sport heavily until around 2002-2003 when I was 11/12 years old. The years with Gagne, Roenick, Primeau, Desjardins, Therien, Bouch, Cechmanek, etc. were some of the first teams I really loved.

I wouldn't. When Hatcher shoved Crosby to the ground, the entertainment value from that moment is worth 10 Carle seasons.

Hopefully L schenn does it this year....somehow i have a good feeling about this year

Just me but I'd rather the Flyers not have home ice through the playoffs anymore. maybe in 10 years we'll get a real building again who knows.

I dont know...i guess people dont know a good thing when they have it...I hear more booing than cheering, which to me is disgusting...

It is a Philly thing i guess. If I had a dime for every time I heard a Philadelphia fan talk about their "right" to boo, I would have a lot of dimes.

You can boo, but sometimes, when the fans chose to boo just tells me they have a severe lack of understanding about the nuances of the game they are watching.

Ranks right up there with yelling shoot during the PP, or yelling hit somebody at any time during the game.

Yeah, because a new building would change who's sitting in it?

This building has been plenty engaged when warranted in playoffs and regular season. Crowd has changed.

I have been to plenty of games where the place is goin bonkers.

I was at the Flyers Sens game where all the fights broke out... the building didnt stop it from rocking. Same with Flyers vs Caps playoffs, and a ton of other games.

I think a big problem is that Flyers fans used to be different than all the other philly sports fans.. Now, it seems as though the same idiots that boo the eagles and phillies are at flyers games booing them.

I remember when it would be dead quiet because everyone was so focused on the game... and then you would hear a "Lets go FLYers!" chant start.. and the whole place would be in on it..

Sorry to pile on Joe, but I have also attended a number of high energy games at the Center of Many Names. I won't dispute the legendary reputation the Spectrum had, but I don't think there's anything wrong with the WFC.

the seating is the main difference between the two buildings. they wanted to be able to seat more people so they had to "flatten" the lower bowl compared to the spectrum where the players have said it felt like the fans were on top of them.
good times in the old arena...from the fights, the never ending smoking cloud, to the dingy bathrooms...
