Compare that to Hall's sheltered, second line-ish minutes, and you should begin to see a discrepancy. If we want a top pairing Dman, it will cost us.

Do you really think a 12th overall 23 year old D man with under 2 years of solid play is less likely to regress than a 20 year old 1st overall player who has never once had a bad season in their career?

1. kreider is like a slightly worse version than hall so you slightly decline your offense but bolster ur defense tremendously. and kreider is faster than hall.

It is not a terrible trade, McD is already a beast and is a top pairing shut-down guy. That being said I don't think it is quite enough from the Rangers to get Hall. They would have to add something like a first/decent prospect.

If Hemsky+Gagner isn't enough to get us a top damn what makes you think it's enough to get us Nash? There's no way we get Nash, Hamilton, or any other star player without dealing one of the big 4 or a crapload of first rounders.
