the only reason holmgren doesn't seem to have a long term plan is because there's a 2000 year old owner desperately trying to win a cup before he dies pulling some strings too. guarantee holmgren didn't want to sign any goalie to a 9 year deal, but snyder (who i do like, but wtf already) decided they were signing whatever deal got them the best available goalie that summer. no matter what it took (and boy did they overdo it).

an organization doesn't just go straight from 25 years of not caring about goalies at all whatsoever to signing one to a 9 year 51 million dollar deal. a senile old man does that.

also, i'm not just trying to defend my precious flyers.
