I have a real sheet memory
I also look away when hes on the ice - hubie
You shouldnt. You have a false opinion that hes our worst defenseman or something. He was our best, statistically speaking.
Faced the toughest competition along with Regher
Had the second best GA average among our D behind Myers (who faced weaker opp)
Had the lowest quality of teammates along with Leopold
Still finished 3rd in GF average when on the ice
Team had the worst +/- when he was on the bench
Had the highest difference (positive) in SF/SA when he was on the ice
Team has the worst differential in SF/SA when Sekera is off the ice
Had one of lowest off zone starts (4th)
Yet still had the highest off zone finish (1st)
Team has the 2nd highest GF, 2nd highest shots on the PP when hes on the ice
Also, he yields the LEAST amount of shots blocked when hes on the ice on the PP
He allows the LEAST amount of shots against while hes on the ice on the PK
He blocks the 2nd most shots behind Regher on the PK
Only D man with more penalties drawn than taken on our team
Ranks 3rd in missed shots behind Ehrhoff and Myers
Ranks 5th in giveaways behind Ehrhoff, Myers, Leopold, Weber
Ranks 2nd in Takeaways
I dont really think you read through that if you really think Sekera is that bad and realize what this is saying about him as a player

35 year olds can sign 2-way contracts.. - Jawallstar1
Pretty sure that 2-way just pertains to how much you'd make if you played in the NHL or the AHL... Like Some players make 900k but only get like 130k if they were in the AHL.

Buffalo is doing all they can for Doan, but they can't make him sign here. All they can do is make it really tough for him to say no. - Homer
Shane Doan: "There's absolutely no way I'm going to Buffa-" (sees $30 million contract offer) "woahhhhh...Buffalo might actually be a pretty nice situation for me."
this took up like 10 pages on the last blog. haha - spasmatic13
Stats are stats. I know the Sabres don't really like him all that much and would like to move him. The league isn't exaclty kicking Darcy's door down to get him though.

I'd love to believe that. But for a guy that has spent his entire life out west (except for 1/2 a season in the AHL), to suddenly want to come east? I guess I'm trying to not get too excited about this. I am a Buffalo sports fan, after all.

Teppo: Shane.. there is a great group of young kids there that have motivation, dedication, and talent.. they just need someone to direct the way.
Shane: They do have some young stars in the making.. they have some vets too.
Teppo: That team made it to the SC last time they had a solid veteran leader on the team leading the way... They have talent.. they just need the someone with the flashlight to bring them to the promise land.
Shane: I have played in Phoenix all but 1 year of my career... maybe I have done everything I can do for this town and I need a new challenge.
Teppo: Buffalo is also gonna pay you between 6.5M and 7M a year until you are 40. It is a great town where a lot of former players go to retire. Why do you think I came back here after my days.
Shane: Get Pegula and his plane here.... I'm Ready.
