People are saying that Kronwall is a better hitter than Stevens.

I wouldn't mind if Merill turns pro since he would get in more games. Also I'm not too sure, but could he become a free agent after completing college like Schultz? I would hate to lose him like that.

The only way he becomes a UFA is if he pulls a douchebag move and de-registers from college. That is what Schultz did which allowed him to become a free agent.

I would assume they will most definitely patch up that loophole in the CBA. Schultz had no intentions of playing in Anaheim, and he de-registered to avoid it.

I'm not 100% on this, but I think it might be a bit more complicated(and ridiculous) and has something to do with the fact that he played a season in the BCHL before going to college after being drafted

Stevens doesn't get a whole lot of respect from other fans. Think it has something to do with the fact that when he played they gave the Norris to the best offensive defensemen pretty much year after year and he never won one which is a complete joke.

not sure, and im not gonna look back for it, but he may have said something like he wont be assistant because of family and wanting to be around them, and keep his special assignment label and only go to albany and home games

He said Stevens wanted to be with family, which was the reason he's only been a special assignment coach. Now that his kids are older, Stevens decided to come back.

we'll see, hoping for the best. the season recap vid on the Devils website is actually pretty good. it was quite the year. .. even if it ended through painful injustice.
