I think if the trade was worked out for certain, it would have been done as such rather than the offer sheet/decline/overlapping trade route. The Flyers apparently got tired of the Predators stalling the trade talks. Because Weber was an RFA, Philly had every right to find out if he'd sign long-term here even if he didn't sign the offer sheet prior to a trade.

The OS forces the Predators' hand.

I would be willing to see the Schenns go the other way, plus Nashville keeping two first rounders from the RFA compensation. It's a VERY hefty price tag, but Weber is worth it.
