I was providing my comfort level for a number. I don't mind if he gets a slight raise.

hmmm.
for 12 minutes a night, spot duty on the PP, and missing 10 games....I might go 2M but it would take convincing.

How do you go from being jonathan cheechoo scoring 150 goals in 4 years with the sharks to being jonathan cheechoo with playing the last 2.5 season in the AHL?

You ruin your shoulder and lose effectiveness as a goal scorer.

Still have to base it on the market and available space.

What about Langkow? I'm surprised he hasn't signed. He's a little younger (maybe more gas in the tank?), faster, good two-way center. He had the neck injury in 2011, but hasn't missed much besides that... And, that's not a sign of old age, like back issues or knee. He maybe more expensive, but we (comcast) has the money to burn for a year offer.

Sorry, it wasn't his shoulder, it was groin problems, robbed him of his ability to get around defenders and drive the net.

I was thinking of Tim Kerr, I guess.

- he was never a great skater to begin with, but had a double sports hernia that zapped him of all of his quickness. think he had a wrist injury, too.

- no longer playing next to Joe Thornton.

6'5" 220 - reminds me of one of our handsome posters here on HB.

I'm sold.

arnott's not a bad idea, but he's not going to help much at the dot. he's won half or fewer of his faceoffs in each of the last 5 seasons.

You should try some deep stretching, I hear it does wonders.

Yes, basically the same thing that befell Mikael Renberg, who WAS a good skater but lost a lot of explosiveness as a result of the same sort of sports hernia where the abdominal muscles tear completely. After that, he had a variety of hand and shoulder injuries and was no longer much of a scoring threat. But he was able to stay in the NHL longer because he was a better two-way player.

So. It's not like we need another large forward. Fed/Voracek/Simmonds/Hartnell are all over 6', and we have several around 6'. If we need a guy playing on the line 3/4, I rather a better two-way forward. Arnott may win the face-offs, but Langkow is better defensively.

Isn't it a Philly tradition to get big forwards?

I liked Langkow last time around but am not as up-to-date on his current abilities.

I do like the idea of adding depth and defense at the forward position. I would still prefer a right winger for G.

Alex Semin is still unsigned and there's an opening on the top line.

2) Briere is happy here. He wants to finish his career as a Flyer and hopes to make the Philadelphia area his permanent home even after he retires as an active player.

Poor guy... try to trade him now, because it appears early onset alzhiemers is setting in.

I think they need more size and grit, especially down the middle.

That's a huge part of why I'd prefer Shane Doan to any other free agent or trade possibility. He's big and mean. Nash and Ryan have good size and can use it, but they don't have a mean streak. Semin has size and doesn't Doan is a big nasty MFer. Arnott is a big guy that also relishes throwing his weight around.

Of the Flyers you mentioned, Hartnell is big and physical. Simmonds is tall and physical, but he also only weighs 185 lbs. Fedotenko and Voracek are not especially physical. I'd love a big nasty guy who can play in the top six or top nine.

True, but Jagr had some moments where he'd astound with his back checking.

I've seen some that prefer Schenn as a winger, and given his willingness to bang and get into the corners, I can understand it. I think he'd be intriguing as the RW on that line.
