Unless Weber has agreed to sign longterm with Columbus I don't see how even Howson could do this.

It is a flawed stat but not so much that it gets completely tossed out. If used in the right context it's and indicator of things.

In the case of Brind'Amour yes he played on some bad teams so those bad years don't affect his playoff numbers in regards to +/- in which he finished +7. In the case of Briere I don't think he's been on bad teams since coming to Philadelphia at least.

I doubt it. Good shape or not, I know one thing as the body gets older, the pounding, especially with the style he played, gets worse and worse to take.

Briere is small. We can't get rid of him.

But he is a fun player to watch. Great on the power play. Let's not forget what it was like to suck on the power play.

He is creative. If MJL is right, and our D-men struggle moving the puck, players like Giroux and Briere can accept a pass and skate up the ice.

Very dangerous in tight. A little like a poor man's Crosby, in that he knows where to go and how to score in tight.

A reminder - our centers don't play in the defensive zone 100% of the time. I understand getting matchups on ice and all that, but other teams need to defend us as well.

He is a south Jersey guy.

That one in particular sticks in my craw. We got fleeced. I know Brind'amour wanted out of dodge but c'mon. We could've got better than that for him. Guy imo at that time, was the heart and soul of the team. Lindros was already on like his 3rd concussion, I'd a been looking to move him not the guy who's healthy and was a real leader.... allright I'm done just had a post-traumatic clarkie trade stress flare there nothing serious...
