Sure he's not much bigger, but he sure as (frank) plays a lot bigger. - Lahey
I think it's a bigger difference than 1" and 5 lbs anyway. |

Kessel sucks.... 12 hits last year from the pansy. - gstrandberg
Then you should be able to notice Gagners improved. No one said hes gunna be a 1st line center and we dont need him to be that, hes gunna be an excellent second line center. |

I don't know whether he'll definitely be an excellent 2nd line centre either. I think he could be a good enough 2nd line centre to play between two excellent wingers, and to have a couple solid bottom 6 centres behind him.
I'd say right now our future looks like RNH and then a centre-by-commitee scenario. I have no problem with Horcoff and Gagner being employed in tandem to cover all the responsibilities of a good 2nd line centre. And maybe Gags gets there on his own. I certainly think he's earned his right to prove more. |

As far as Sam's contract goes, I'd look at what Voracek gets - same age, same draft pedigree, reasonably similar points production per year, and both are about 4th or 5th in terms of importance among forwards in the team's future. The two should fetch similar numbers imo. |

I absolutely believe that Gags can take the 2C. People are already putting a cap on the guy and hes only 22. Thats just rediculous. |

Who said star? We dont need him as a 1st line center. I just find it rediculous that everyone is bashing a 22 year old that has improved every year he has played. He is becoming a very well rounded player and will be a guy wearing an A very soon. - Oilfan19
Improved every year he played?
Look at the stats again....his highest point total was his rookie year.
He definitely has potential, and I think he slots into your #2C or #3C slot provided he doesn't want too much money...Oilers are gonna need all the money they can to lock up the big4...
I think people bash SG because of what some Oiler fans feel he is worth...it wasn't long ago some fans were saying he could pull in the 8th overall pick in trade straight up...or trades for top2 d-men...whereas if a Leaf fan proposed Tyler Bozak could get a top2 dman or top10 pick in the first round in trade they would be laughed off the board...yet their stats were VERY similar last year... |

It's not all about offense. Gagner is a lot better on faceoffs, smarter without the puck and has picked up a bit of speed. |

I didn't say his PPG last year wasn't his highest...I said his highest point total was his rookie year...

Gagner is four years younger than Bozak, so they really aren't comparable. |

Gagner is better on faceoffs?
Is that why Bozak won 52.7% last year and Gagner won 47.6%?
How do you judge that Gagner is smarter without the puck? lol... |

I was talking about Gagner getting better. I could give two poops about Bozak.
How do you judge a player is better without the puck? Not shocked you don't know this. |

I know the 8th overall pick sounds super duper fantastic before the draft, but name "Derick Pouliot" doesn't exactly make me all giddy to trade Gagner. |

It's not improving every year...
Improving every year would be:
Year one .54 PPG
Year two .60 PPG
Year three .62 PPG
Year four .67 PPG |
