It's not about the team that "I Root For".... I can read a stat sheet.

Year Team League GP G A PTS +/-
2011-12 Edmonton NHL 75 18 29 47 5
2010-11 Edmonton NHL 68 15 27 42 -17
2009-10 Edmonton NHL 68 15 26 41 -8
2008-09 Edmonton NHL 76 16 25 41 -1
2007-08 Edmonton NHL 79 13 36 49 -21

His best year was his rookie year. although he showed some improvement last year.... do you really think he is worth 4 Mil for 5 years as you suggested earlier?

- gstrandberg

Yes. Get him locked for 5 years, just as he enters his prime.

Check the going rate for 2nd line centers.

Only Edmonton fans keep pushing for the kid to be traded.
- spatso

Who wants him traded?

He's our only real option for a 2nd line C right now.

Makes no sense to trade him

•Jeff Marek via twitter: ZERO truth to rumor that Sam Gagner signed an extension with the Oilers. Jason Gregor via twitter: Gregor spoke with someone from Gagner camp, have not signed a 4 year deal, still negotiating. Jeff Marek via twitter: Hard to believe that Gagner would sign a 4 year deal worth $13 million when David Perron signed a 4 year, $15.25 million deal. Gagner has produced more.

Why do Oiler fans want to talk about this?

Just declare a victory. You think you have a great player in Gagner. Nobody is fighting with you. You should be happy. You don't find any Senator fans trying to steal him from you. Not one has offered Turris for Gagner.

- spatso

I'm quite content keeping him.

Oiler fans dont go around touting his greatness.

But every day here we get bozo's coming in and telling us the same crap. He's gotten worse every year, he's worthless in a trade, if he didn't get hot for a couple weeks he'd have crappy numbers. Blah blah.

Gets a little tiresome.

If Turis is so much better than Gagner, why has he already been traded? (have to remember the stupid emoticons. )
How long should we wait for Turris to actually become what Gagner already is?

Gagner 220 NHL Points.
Turris 75 NHL points.

This Gagner stupidity just keeps on going.......

Gagner : 366 games (0.6 ppg) collective -42
Turris: 186 games (0.4 ppg) collective -10

playing in a wide open run and gun Gagner would have more offensive opportunities in Edm, after all they don't play any defensive hockey... yet.
Turris playing in a defensive style in Phoenix is only 0.2 ppg less then Gagner....
It's pretty much a draw on stats on the 2 players if you take everything into account. Turris has been a disappointment, much like Gagner. Turris really seemed to benefit from a trade, Gagner might as well, but if Gagner stays in Edm, don't expect much more then he is giving now.

You should check out other players at the age of 22 and see if any of them improved. Perhaps check on Sedin's stats at the same age.

Sorry Gagner has disappointed you, but I've been happy with his progress. He's evolved into a much grittier player who will do whatever the team asks of him.

Happy to have him as part of the young core.

Speaking of Twitter, the place went bonkers on Monday evening when someone whom many, many people follow decided to say Sam Gagner signed a three-year contract extention with the Edmonton Oilers. Of course, it was a "real" rumor, because the person sending it put #CONFIRMED on the end of the message. Why do people do that? So very, very lame.

This just in Gagner resigns to 4 year 14mil deal (E5) CONFIRMED.

Yeah Yeah Yeah, we went through that the other day...... and in the end, some great players had slow starts, but we all know Gagner is not destined to be a great player.

It's like saying because Gretsky took the first penalty in franchise history for the Oilers, that he was going to get allot of penalties.

Nice cover up.

I'm just a bit busy and I can't find the time to write a blog with you. Maybe another time kiddo.

I notice that you are too "Busy" after you are proven to have no knowledge.

How is Turris, Omark and Filatov doing?

If you can predict the future, can I get the lottery numbers for Friday? I could use the cash.

So if I understand this correctly. Turris will improve (he is the same age), but Gagner won't. Is that because Turris was picked 3 spots ahead of Gagner?

if gagner is SOOOo good, then why are oiler fans, and bloggers, and pretty much everyone, SOOOO desperate to include him in every single trade offer.

as for the gagner vs turris debate, perhaps we should wait and actually let turris play a full season with the sens, as opposed to the coyotes, where he butted heads with the coach and as a result didn't actually play much.

- sensarmy_11

Hmmmm...Oil blogger makes a piece about SG...OTHER TEAM FANS come in to derail comments...and you wonder why the Oil fans want to talk about this? I wonder why other fans do.

You are wrong. For some reason SG's name draws the ire of other fans who feel the need to come into the Oiler blog comments to voice their insignificant opinion.

Problem is you can't convince anybody that matters that this interpretation has any practical reality. No GM would ever give up Turris for Gagner. On the other hand Turris is probably the second line center that the Oilers need.
- spatso

lololol...HockeyInsiderr I didn't know you had an account on Ek's blogs.

Look close at how this works...

11-12: .627 ppg rate
10-11: .618 ppg rate
09-10: .603 ppg rate
08-09: .539 ppg rate
07-08: .620 ppg rate

Kinda defeats your "has gotten worse" theory.

SG does not deserve more than Duchene, who received 2yr, 3.5per.

Now that it has been proven you know nothing please don't let the door hit you on the way out.

Its not Oil fans that keep suggesting to trade Sammy. He is their only choice for 2nd line Center right now. Its the troll that say trade Gagner for a Dman or Goaltending. While the real Oil fans know the situation on the back end is not as dire as trolls say it is. The only trade I'd do for Gags is if a Center is coming back. Like Krejci (who B's fans seem intent on getting rid of for some reason) or Getzlaf.

Since when does anything a fan think matter. They can spew anything they want because they aren't in a position to back anything up.
