how do you get "id rather give up a first for kipper over halak?"
at no point in time did i ever say id rather kipper over halak, let alone id rather kipper.
stop putting stupid statements together that are conjured out of the air.
if St Louis moves halak - the payback will be more than what they gave Montreal for him.
so that first your so concerned about giving up, would be about 1/3 of what we would have to give up. - big_dion
That is true sorry, didn't mean to put words in your mouth. But for as much as you would be willing to pay for Kipper we would be able to have Halak for that price. |

A Bernier/Reimer tandem sounds ok. Not overwhelming but ok. Scrivens is the goalie of the future, but under no circumstances is he to be moved up to the big club this year. Goalies are totally wrecked by putting them up with the big team when they are not ready. A kid who takes the team to the finals is REALLY getting there. Give him one more year in the A, then deep six one of Bernier or Reimer and bring him in as the backup. That is how it MUST be done. Its been said over and over but it just bears repeating....NOT YET! |

thats because our goalies are both unproven.
they COULD be great, or not.
Bozak is pretty close to as good as he's going to get...so its a guarentee'd improvement...putting in say...Bernier over Reimer...may not be an upgrade, who knows!?
get my drift brother? - big_dion
I was being serious...and agree with your point. You are too wound up calm down
I was just restating what majority want, because someone said I thought wrong because I said what about a number 1 center, isn't that what most think the leafs problem is? |

I still can't believe you would give up that much for a 35 year old goalie. How can you justify that?
I wouldn't even give that up for Halak, maybe if it was the 2014 first. |

Scrivens is 26 years old. The guy has done his time in the minors. This isn't a case of being rushed or some wide-eyed kid being thrown to the wolves. He was burried in the E two seasons ago and worked his way into the AHL rotation. Last year he won the job in the AHL outright and got a looksee in the NHL. If he is in the NHL this season, by no means can you say he was rushed.
(frank) this goalie chatter, its pointless. It's clear nothing will be done till September or October, if at all. FYI, the Leafs offer to the Kings wasn't substantial and not even worthy of press or blog coverage. It's simply a ploy to tell the idiot in Vancouver he's got other options. |

fair enough, thats what i am hoping we do.
im just saying if it came down to it, id consider moving a 1st for a bonified #1 goalie who has 3-5 years left in the tank.
that doenst mean i want Luongo for 10 years either.

That was more retaliation than anything, you actually have me rattled because I can tell you aren't intentionally trolling and you really believe Kipper is worth that much, which is insane. |

Well according to most people on this site, they seem to want to go with Reimer, get a #1 center, and see how things work out, then address the goalie situation after next season. Just saying what most Leaf fans here have said. - celata29
they think Reimer will rebound, and i hope he does
but i think its suicide to put your hopes in him
and Burke knows that the new owners are not going to put up with lost playoff revenue, especially when all you need is a goalie to get you there
Toronto loses about 6 million every home date they aren't playing
so even if they are out in 4 games thats 12 mill gone |
