Hey guys, anyone want to chime in (serious/non trolling comments) on my blog?
Current question: What would the Leafs need to send to Calgary for Kipper?
This wont be a Phaneuf 2.0 deal...fair hockey trade...what does it take? - Colin Dambrauskas
At 35 years old?
It's something I hope the leafs never do...but if they had to....
Owuya, a 2nd, Mac + (maybe) mid level prospect |

Luongo is 33...10 year contract
Kipper is 35....1 year contract
Both have very solid numbers.... |

I understand that.
So now you are trading for an old goalie with a 1 year contract....at least with lou he's locked up.
But that's about all I would trade for him.
Besides Iggy and Kipper, I wouldn't waste trading anything with Calgary....nothing of interest. |

more than a 1rst and a roster player? or what I would be willing to pay - maverickJ
You have to realize that even an older Kiprusoff is vastly better than anything you have for goalies right now, and better than what most NHL teams asides from the Rangers, Kings and Preds have. You won't get him for peanuts. |

What do you think he is worth? - maverickJ
Honestly? Nothing the Leafs would/could offer.
Calgary needs more depth down the middle, doubt the Leafs move what little depth they have for Kipper. Think he would be a nice addition, though. |

id give up MacArthur, a prospect (ashton, d'amigo, colborne) 1 of them, and a first.
id say kipper has 4 good years left in him. his contract is only 1 more year. perfect fit for smoothing in a young goalie. |

Problem Calgary has right now with their goalies, is Kipper has played 90% of the last 5-6 seasons and his "understudies" have yet to get enough experience. They need to start playing their younger guys and consider he may be leaving soon. |

Calgary needs more than depth down the middle...they need alot more....dont kid yourself.
The leafs could easily trade for him....but they have to overpay and it wouldn't be worth it. |

Lol on we have nothing that would make the deal work? Or nothing that we would be willing to part with?
I don't think his value is as high as you think it is. He is 35 on a one year contract thus an old rental player. Very talented, but not reliable or worth giving your future for unless a team like philly or boston wants him to make a run. |

I didnt say, Calgary "only" needs more depth down the middle. What was meant is that they need to start acquiring more depth, which imo, if they moved either Kipper or Iggy, there would be young talent coming back, likely down the middle. |

That might be closer, but I bet Fatster would want a better roster player. Kulemin at least. |

Wow, if that first turned into Seguin, that would be the worst trade in Leafs history. The guy is 35.
Just sayin, look at what happen with the Kessel deal, when that first turned into Seguin, And, Burke got a great young player and took that much heat.. |

That would be a starting point.
Iggy would bring back the most.
Kipper wouldn' t bring as much as you hope he would |

Both teams are roughly in the same boat, save for the Leafs having more prospects. But, each team needs upgrades in youth, and down the middle...neither will likely be able to make a deal together, imo. |

Next years draft is going to be a deep one, I would not give up 17th overall for a rental player. |

essentially you slide kadri in for mac's spot.
colborne in my eyes will be at best a 3C.
1st rounder i dont see how the leafs would end up bottom 5 with kipper.
our team isnt all that bad. WAY better than when we aquired kessel. |
