I'm not sure what Mike Gillis is thinking, I really don't. I'd be happy to move him for a prospect and free yourself up from the cap hit. Obviously his thoughts are different! Not sure how this will turn out in the end.

He just seems hell bent on getting a good return for a great player at his position. A lot of different things at play here.

I like Kessel, the guy has the abillity to steal or keep you in the game with one random shot off the rush.

But the sad fact is, we came 2nd last with him in the lineup scoring 30 goals in 70 games. Without him, we probably would of been worse then the Oilers and got Hall.

Then who knows how that would circulated in the 2011 draft. We probably wouldnt have been as good that year either and maybe snag a Huberdeau, Ryan Strome or Sean Couterier.

It (frank)in sucks, but Burkie seen a chance to land an elite sniper coming off a EL deal and he went for it. The risk was worth the reward at the time because he was young and proven, instead of waiting. Kessel is still our best player and is only getting better every year, still without a top-flight centre to feed him the puck

Until then opions are like as s holes eveyone has them.

Seems to be the case...only problem is a) you have a goalie who wants out and b) he's got a tough contract to move.

Hes going to have to give in soon and just move him. Im sure what the Leafs/Florida are offering is "acceptable" by most...but Gillis wants more.

I cant wait to watch him on the Wings....if the Leafs play the Wings and he starts the game plan with be as follows.

Nobody is trading for the guy who went to the cup finals and won the gold medal game at the Olympics ... They are trading for the guy with a terrible contract who lost his job to a kid and demanded a trade in the media...

those 2 guys get very different returns...
