I suppose it depends on if you think either Reimer or Scrivens are/could be legit starters. I dont. So for me, I feel the Leafs need to address their goaltending first and foremost. - Colin Dambrauskas
Have you had this opinion since before he was hurt? Because Burke and the overwhelming majority of Leafs nation didn't.
I believe Reimer when he says that he's now 100% healthy; his Doctors are also saying that with proper strengthening, it's 100% preventable (which is what he's been working on this off-season), so the chances of him getting hurt again are slim (not to mention that goalies typically don't get run like that; he's not a 3rd line checker).
Knowing what a concussion/concussion-like symptoms can do to a world-class goalie like Miller, I can only imagine how that impacted Reimer's game after he came back.
I still think he has as good of a shot as a legit #1 goalie as he had before, but I'm a glass half-full kind of guy. |

You know, as much as I dont want to comment on it because I know fans on each side will complain...but its my opinion that Burke and Feaster are *very* similar GMs.
Both stubborn, both like to roll the dice, both coming from successful franchises to teams who were in need of change. Both cocky. Neither will accept defeat or like to lose. - Colin Dambrauskas
Just joking man, I've read all your stuff so far Good Job, Keep it up!

he requested a trade last season and it didn't seem to be much of a locker room issue..... - Barx
was quiet then though. Now he's come out and said it to a reporter - that doesn't usually go over well.
Although, not like it's Vancouver... that could be remedied by saying give us another year as backup and see if we can make another cup run, and we'll move you next summer.

That's not true. He stole Thomas' starting job in 09 and lead the league in GAA and save % and just lost the Vezina to Miller - celata29
hes proven more, i do agree, and he looks to be solid, but he still hasnt been the number one for a full season. (i think he played what, 40 games one season?).
keep in mind, Rask played for boston last 3 years, who has been one of the best, if not the best overall team for those 3. That doesnt hurt you as a goalie.
i cant believe rask only weight like 140 pounds, thats crazy... |

This is a great idea...let's trade for a small goalie and have allaire teach him how to play as if he were 6"6.
If Leafs brass was going to take a risk on an unproven netminder, they should've traded for Lindback last month...he would've suited the way goaltending is taught in this town. - Pen15

You know me by now...I get defensive about my Rask
I watched him play when he was younger and was pissed when you drafted him, then when you traded him to us...literally one of the happiest days as a Bs fan, obviously not including cup run. But idk I've just always been high on him |

Not sure...but Burke is pretty high on the guy...I doubt he doesn't get re-signed if that's the case.
EDIT: Either way...is it really worth giving up valuable assets for someone that's just as proven as the two guys we already have? |

They should completely go with the kids this year, including Reimer/Scrivens. If they overachieve, fine. If they don't, maybe we finally get a franchise player. They need to see what they have with this group of prospects they keep talking about. Give them all opportunity. |

I agree they are not better now, but you don't think all those players will amount to a solid roster in the future, which is what the Leafs are building toward now? You guys seem, not apathetic, but ok with losing another season or two to better your team, which is respectable. I think in the future they will have more to offer than Kessel, but just my 2 cents. - celata29
Seguin will certainly be a player for years to come, he already has established himself as a good player in the league. 100% he is a gamer, great 2 way play from what i have seen.
Havnt seen Hamilton in an NHL game yet so i cant say much about that. Lots of talent there though.
Every team has needs, everyone needs a goal scorer, kessel is just that. |

ya I think your right, don't think Allaire has resigned with the Leafs. Perhaps he goes where Lu goes...... From an earlier article
"But most importantly, they have Francois Allaire, Luongo's longtime goalie guru who works with him during the offseasons. Allaire is the Maple Leafs' goalie coach.
This should not be underplayed. The goalie coach is one of the critical factors for Luongo. When he was with Florida, in his final negotiation, one of Luongo's demands was that they hire Allaire."

Ooooohhh he goes there
Idk, I think the problem with the Bs PP is that it's too one dimensional. Get the puck to Chara and blast it. They need more half boards play rather than low cylce and D to D passes with slap shots. Teams just clog the shooting lanes and also try and trap the puck along the high boards where we always have a foward to dish the puck to the D and then the puck gets cleared. Just a stupid scheme if you ask me. I think Seguin has plently ability to score on the PP the D just needs to rotate, alon with everyone else, to open up passing lanes. |

Im not going to lie, I thought Reimer was stellar in that 30 game stint he had. Although, even before his injury I started seeing a few things that bothered me. After his injury, albeit not fully recovered, I still saw things I didnt like.
I dont know, I guess its just one of those things where you go with your gut feeling and I dont think Reimer has ALL the tools needed to be a legit starter. Sure he may be a good enough starter, but he wont be the guy (imo) the Leafs need to rely on. |
