Here are some facts:

1. Buffalo did not make the playoffs in 2011-12 despite adding Leino and Ehrhoff

2. Free agents Buffalo has added in the 2012 offseason - John Scott, Kevin Porter, Mark Mancari

3. Players lost to free agency - Brad Boyes

Questions to think about:

1. Has Buffalo improved their team during the offseason?

2. Has teams that finished below Buffalo in the standings improved their rosters?

Scott will be your 13th forward. The other 2 will probably wind up in Rochester.

So why would Doan want to sign in Buffalo? Buffalo has an uphill climb just to get into the playoffs in 12-13. I would think Doan would want to sign with a Stanley Cup contender imo.

Last year Ennis had 20 goals and 49 PTS, now we are offering 7.5mill for shane Doan who had 20 goals 50 PTS. I rather pass on Doan unless it's for 2-3 years and way under 7.5 mill per.

We've already seen Lindys system work for 5 years with the same players and losing in first rd, how many more years does he need? If he really is the best coach in hockey how come no players are begging to come play for him? Didn't he meet Nash on team Canada?

How come the best coach in hockey can't win a playoff rd or coach a pp?

You win Cups with guys like Doan & Ryan, the role guys like this play in the lockeroom and on the ice is unmeasurable!

Something this team as lacked for many years (Drury was the exception).

I really think trying to utilize I have been here longer than you is just so......

Just because someone has devoted more idle time to a message board than me in their life does not constitute them being anywhere as close to a more educated or bigger fan than me.

That card has been played out and is old quite frankly. It's like what children do and I know because I have 6 of em . If you feel "entitled" or like you are the "big man on campus" on a message board because you have "been here longer, then you clearly need to get a life !

Swept right under the curb .

No disrespect to you cabin , just saying myself .

And Cougar,
no disrespect taken. I think. the point that ink was making and what i agreed on was that a good bunch of us so called "old timers" on here seem to respect other posters more than some of the newbees. Kinda learned how this crazy posting thing works. We all love new guys that come with some hockey input. I'm sure everyone does. Some newcomers tend to know everything and try to shove it down posters throats. The name calling ? I don't care for it and ignore it . Regardless. most posts are peoples opinions and everyone should take it as nothing more.

as with this post . My opinion

Half our team, including our goalie were injured for a good portion of the year first of all, but that's part of hockey, I get that.

Look at you guys, you were nothing special two years ago and barely made the playoffs and won it all this year. Its a fine line between 9th and the Champs these days.

Doan has 30 millions reasons to sign with Buffalo.

If we sign Doan and its the 4 year 30M deal, who's for it?

I'll start.............Yes

Is that more than he deserves, sure is. BUT, he is a player that we need in a bad way and this organization and Darcy has been critized time and again for not being agressive enough, so I for one will nt critize them for being agressive, even it may be to agressive.

- Homer

Doan is a smart fella and will not want a team to tie themselves down in cap trouble. He will be impressed with the largeness of an offer and the overtures that Buffalo has made. I would not be surprised if he asks them for a contract that lasts 6 years, that would be valued about $34 million...helping the team with it cap hit, so that they could still go out and get another good player. He is interested in winning from a "out of the ashes" perspective.

They are really thinking of trying Leino at center again?
That seemed to be kind of a disaster last year
And who knows if it's true,
But supposedly Leino asked to be moved back to the wing

- jdfitz77

Leino plays better up the middle on the fly; Ott plays better off the wing on the fly; Leino is a lousy face-off man; Ott is a great face-off man......the two complement each other well, with the added part that Ott will push Leino. The winger is likely to be Pominville because he and Leino already had good chemistry last year.

Huh? They barely played together and Leino had chemistry with no one, that's why he sucked.

Is that Leo/Cullen deal still on the table?
- sabresfandan

Don't like that deal; rather sign Arnott or even Moore.
Edmonton seems to be interested in Leopold, perhaps a package of Leopold and a forward like Adam for Gagner and a pick would work?

Nice post, could see this happening!

I think Leino would be a solid #3 center for this team. Just needs confidence, something tells me he has a good year?

This. His team finally wins a cup and feels it's appropriate to jump on his soapbox. Pretty sure if things played out differently for his team in June, he wouldn't spewing that garbage. I know we haven't made any significant signings, but we don't need names to be competitive.

- CaptPantalones

I hope so...maybe someone like Stewart or Malone is plan B.
