Jesus was a Palestinian Jew, there is not much minor hockey played in the middle East,I doubt his skating is up to the standard of a top 4 Dman. - spatso
You could send him to the NYR, where he would be a draw and they could raise ticket prices.
You could also send him to the minor league team in Allentown (Phantoms), where he will at least be near Bethlehem.

I just saw on capgeek that Calgary gave Roman Cervenka 3.75M - cor99
They did not give him that. With bonuses (most likely unattainable) he could make that. He is making base salary under a million.
that is the cap hit though |

Leafs should offer Pnaneuf
Franson
MacArthur
Kadri and a 1st - cric-crac
Kessel, Franson, MacArthur, and Liles would get it done. The Preds need to replace to VERY good defensemen. Franson and Liles don't come close. Luckily, the Preds have Josi, Ellis, Gill, Klein, and some decent prospects.
The Preds need some high end scoring talent- Kessel. Add in MacArthur...a prototypical Predator.
This deal would be fair. It would help both teams. Leafs wouldn't have to give up any prospects or picks. |

Something along those lines. I like cooter to much to include him in any trade if possible even though I'm sure poille would push for him |

Since Karlsson is recognized as a better defenseman than Shea Weber (Norris Trophy) and he scored more points (thus better offensively), then it stands to reason that Shea Weber deserves less than $6.5 Million/year.
Don't hate this hockey fan on that analysis. It's the moronic NHL and the insufferable NHL fan base that is directly responsible for that very reasonable cost breakdown. There is no wonder Weber wants out of Nashville. He deserved the Norris Trophy (and league wide recognition) the past two seasons. |

Erik Karlsson is terrible defensively. Brutal.
Unfourtunatly he has crazy good offensive skills. He will be a 55 to 65 point guy. Doubt he gets to 75 again

2 top 6 forwards, a top 4 D man, 2 top prospects and 2 draft picks??? Wow, I'm not saying Weber isn't worth that, but what team would be willing to sell their future success for one player?
And then there is the issue of re-signing him to a long term deal. There's no guarantee he'll re-sign with the team that traded for him.
I think most teams will take their chances in him becoming a UFA next year and just offer him a ton of dough instead of selling the entire farm for one prize cow. |

1 bad season makes him a average 2nd liner?? So I guess clarkson's 30 goal season makes him a perennial all star? |

Given the unknown status of the CBA, I would be cautious with signing any player this offseason. Signing them for a bazillion years and dollars is dangerous. Trading away affordable players, prospects and draft picks? That's insanely dangerous.
Sure, you win by the Barry Melrose "the team that gets the best player wins the deal" but Weber cant play as many shifts as all those assets combined. A trade like that might be a Lindros trade, but even worse given the salary cap.
I agree with people who say he'll not make league maximum as most of the great player's don't leaving their team with some wiggle room to keep the team great.
Note, this is Weber's last chance to sign one of those crazy contracts that he doesn't intend to complete (retirement before contract expires). That gives Nashville some interesting options. |
