Crosby was the first this year to be extended. More are trickling out daily. I would expect that Weber reps with Nashville on a long term contract. Also expect Getzlaf and Perry to do the same with Anahiem. There will be very few high end UFA's next summer.

I wouldn't be suprised if that was the case. He is really all Nashville has now (besides Rinne). I could see Weber signing a 1 year deal, then leaving if he isn't traded this summer.

This summer could be a doozy. Luongo, Nash, Ryan, Weber all being traded. Parise and Suter have already found new homes. Semin, and Doan are two more.

If he signs a one year deal he'll be traded. I can't imagine Poile wants to go through the whole Suter distraction/fiasco again. I know Preds fans are really tired of the circus those two have created.

One player, as good as Weber is, can’t be worth all those key pieces…what are you left with…he better be the best D ever, he would need to be playing with a striped team….

Sadly this is a deal that the leafs should but cant make.....if Weber played with the marlies team called up they wouldnt finish lower - and would have a brighter future...

Agreed 100 %......A top 6 forward....a stud prospect...a decent D man and a couple of firsts would be HUGE and an over payment....if that is indeed the expected return then the Pred's would be NUTS not to accept....he is awesome....not that awesome..

And he's a UFA. So if he actually lives up to the money he's getting, he can just walk and go to a good team. God, the Flames suck at doing things.

How he still has a job is a mystery

so you have to look more to the teams who have the funds to pay a D-man close to max money and who have the depth to give the Preds 2 top 6 forwards, 1 top 4 defender, 2 top flight prospects, and at least 2 first round draft picks...

Absolutely too much. You gain one amazing defenseman, but your organization loses depth. Not only immediately but future depth as well.

Poile never asked for this. This is speculation by Ek. I doubt it takes that much to get Weber, but I have seen several articles and blogs suggesting that players considered untouchable in a Nash trade would be available for a Weber trade.

The Pens? They dont have 2 top six forwards to give up. They can make up for it if they trade Malkin, which they wont. Neal is their only guy... and Letang? Letang is their only legit Dman.

I'm pretty sure he's being offered more than what Suter just stole errrr negotiated. I don't know what the holdup is. Weber says one thing then does another ala Suter.

If he's waiting to see what Poile does with the roster he'll be waiting a long time. Aug 1 is the deadline for him to accept his qualifying offer, so we'll see.

i still cant believe the whole "we want to win" position they (suter+parise) used, last time i checked the devils and preds were just in the playoffs and have been pretty consistently (with the devils just being in the finals) to sign with minny where they haven't made the playoffs the last few seasons, have little to no playoff success (12 franchise playoff wins) and most likely will be a bubble team next year

sure they can say they are going home, and they can also say we took the bank with us, both are overpaid by 1mill (cap hit wise)

at least now they can say their now legacies in minny, congrats thats all you will be....a legacy and favorite for playing in your home state/close to it and not winning a shiny cup

i am interested to see how weber will play without suter, i bet both will be negatively effected

Green was making 5 mil. How do the Caps get him to give up 2 years of FA without giving him a raise? Who do the Caps have to step up and replace Green's potential production? In the end if Green is healthy this deal is a steal. If he continues to play 50 games a year it's a big waste.

If the Flyers offered Couturier, Schenn and Schenn, it should be enough.
