And apparently you can't get past your arrogance....

Honestly dude, my comments were not directed at you, or any other specific fan. What I was pointing out was that every person who posts on this site feels that they know exactly what a player from another team is worth, and quite frankly, they don't know jack, which is why they are at home/work posting on a message board and not in the board room negotiating trades with other GM's.

This I don't believe but please, by all means prove me wrong by finding an example?

I don't have a link but I thought I remember Lebrun or MacKenzie speaking about Heatley being traded from SJ to Minny. Heatley accepted a trade out of the organization he negotiated an NTC (remember the block to Edmonton?) but didn't have that same power with SJ. I thought I heard the same situation another time. It could be something that is negotiated into a contract but often overlooked.

what's even better are the guys who argue over 4th and 5th round picks during draft week.

not only do they watch every NHL game but they watch every WHL, OHL, Q, USDL, SEL game closely enough that they can also rank the top 200 18 year olds every year.

"KNOWN CLAUSES (note: if player has been traded, clauses may no longer apply): NTC (player can supply five-team trade list following final game of 2013-14, valid through July 15, 2014; if player does not submit trade list at that time, team can request a five-team trade list following final game of 2017-18 season, valid through Sept. 1, 2018). If player submitted a trade list in 2014 and was not moved, team loses right to request trade list in 2018."

This is from Capgeek, so take it for what its worth.

Quoting myself here, but for all those out there that think they are tied to Lu for the rest of their life, his NTC may be void after a trade. If not, Lu can request a trade following the 2013 season, that's only two years. If he does not request the trade, the team can require a list of teams and trade him following the 2017 season, that's five years. Plenty of opportunity to diminish the risk in his "10" year contract.

Hockeyy Insiderr says the Mucks offered Doan three years at 6 million per, at least that's how I read it. Think there's any truth to that?

No, Gillis would never low ball Doan like that, I'm sure it's $10 million per season.

I think most reasonable posters understand this and that we're just here speculating for fun because we love the sport. It's true though, some people get extremely opinionated about matters they have no insight into (apart from their own logic/preferences) and no power to shape. It's equal parts amusing and aggravating. I usually surf away from the site when it gets too bad.

I think the same pundit said we offered 2 yrs @6m per. SJ apparently matched but added more term. Doan still working on a new deal with PHX. This is all from Hockeyyyy Insiderrrr so make of that what you will.

Not really "new" news, but Lack has officially declined the Canucks qualifying offer (which called for a 10% raise on his NHL salary to something like $660k). He has, however, no plans to return to Europe, so I imagine this is just a normal transaction, one which Gillis likely expected. I would guess he'll get a Schneider like $900k NHL, $100k AHL type 2 or 3 year deal.

Mine's only 8, so we haven't had to pull out the check-o-meter as of yet. Do tell, what's your secret?

This M. Green extension does not look good for getting Edler extended long term.

His agent is going to ask for some thing around the six million Dollie mark. He probably get it too!

And it is not like he hasn't earned it, but it will be tough with the other guys all making 4.5. I guess the downside to signing longer deals is that at some point the guys around you will be making more. Who knows, in a few years Parise and Suter may look like a deal...

Ah, well consider me enlightened.

This clause seems to be about trade lists. I don't think it means a player loses his NTC after a trade. It's more about control of where a player ends up in a trade.
