no way. greinke and hamels are neck and neck.

edit: eh, greinke is not far behind hamels at least.

- OrangeBlack27

Hamels: 126.0 IP, 11-4, 3.07 ERA, 125 K, 30 BB, 2.6 WAR

Greinke: 116.0 IP, 9-3, 3.57 ERA, 117 K, 28 BB, 2.1 WAR

Hamels also won a WS MVP and Greinke has a 6.48 career ERA in 3 playoff games. That anxiety disorder of his doesn't help him either.

James Shields is not better than Zack Greinke.

Yeah I just looked at some numbers and I agree.

That Pence is clearly overrated.
- BulliesPhan87

How is he overrated? He is what he is. A .280/.340 guys who hits 20+ HR with a career OPS over .800. He does it every year. You know what you are going to get from him. Anyway you look at it, he's a valuable player to have.

He's a great 5 hitter but not a guy to build your offense around. With Howard and Utley in the lineup, he is value is much better.

and your point is....
- JoeRussomanno

my point is, that's probably what some fans probably like about him. also, he's white. again, some fans, not necessarily you, joe.

but my original point is that sweet uniform and hustle aside, he's still statistically (slightly above) average on the balance of his career.

do you think adding Briere instead of Voracek allows the flyers to keep some of the picks/prospects?

Briere and Ried
Mez
2 firsts

would send more salary the other way...and would give a "name" back to Nashville for the next few years to provide some offense and playoff performance.

not saying i'd do it...but do yo uthink that alters the asking price?

hamels playoff experience is a boon for sure and that combined with no history of psychological issues would make him more attractive to suitors.

also need to remember greinke has a pretty dreadful defense behind him, which is not helping his era at all. glad you included WAR, though!

If only but I think it has been said that Danny has a NTC so he's not going anywhere. Besides, that's a big contract I don't think Nashville would want when they could have a 23 year old top 6 guy.

very useful tool to put a value on a player's all-around contributions including base running. also great for player comparisons
