Yeah, he was the goalie in the early 90's during the Leafs cup runs. I don't even really remember too much, but I remember really liking him as a goalie. Plus he has a cool name and I loved the mask...hence my display pick. - Domaju
I've probably told you this story 100 times, but I used to play Friday afternoon shinny. One of the regular goalies would break in pads for Potvin.
And after Potvin had worn out his equipment, he would give it back to the guy to wear.
So he looked exactly like Potvin. Which was a lot of fun when you were shooting on him. |

Roy generally gets the nod for his memorable playoff performances, but Hasek was certainly no slouch in the playoffs, his career playoffs sv% is 0.925... besting Roy and Brodeur still. - robin_steele264
I will agree to be proven wrong statistically. The cups make it close though...But I'll give it to you |

My dads a dead beat (frank) - The_Vark
I always liken being a Leaf fan to that of being a child of a dead beat dad
Little Timmy is looking out his front door window waiting for his dad. His dad promised that they'd go to the zoo this weekend. Timmy's mom knows his father too much but doesn't have the heart to say they aren't going. So Timmy waits and waits, finally his dad calls. Timmy gets excited and grabs the phone.
"Hey champ, I have some bad news. I have to take Darlene to her lawyers. But I promise next week we'll get to that zoo. Alright buddy?"
"Sure dad. I love you and I can't wait until next week".
So the next week comes, Timmy is excited as usual because his dad promised something big was coming and that he wasn't just blowing steam. This time though, not even a call. Just Timmy waiting....watching that front door. Jumping up every time he hears a car door...only to be let down harder each time. Then comes night time and Timmy's mom tells him not to worry about it, yet Timmy replies it's alright because there's always next week for him and his dad to do something.
So basically we're Timmy and the Leafs are that (frank)ign bumhole dad who would rather (frank) Darlene....(though admittedly she is hot in that dirty trampy stripper way, but she's ridden with herpes) than give his loyal son the attention he deserves.
I'm gonna go cry and beat off now. |

He was the quietest little church mouse.
Which made it all the more fantastic when Hextall skated 190 feet to fight him, and Felix tuned him up like an old piano. - Atomic Wedgie
Damn straight. That's another reason I loved him, his fight with Hextall. I had heard somewhere back then that he actually was a boxer too, or took boxing lessons or something. Not sure how true it was, but as a kid, I chose to believe it lol |

I had his little McDonald's hockey mask thing that came in Happy Meals back then. I had no idea who he was. - Domaju
Andrew Raycroft, Byron Dafoe, Hannu Toivannen, Alex Auld, Manny Fernandez (when he sucked), Thomas played in 06-07 with a 3+ gaa, Felix Potvin on his downfall...must I go on? those were our goalies before Thomas had two good years and we traded for Rask. |

How (frank)ing dare you accuse that guy of not having a source. People like you make me (frank)ing sick to my stomach.
Is he gonna give up his source? Not likely. Take it for what its worth, which is less than nothing. I'm just saying. Wait and see then maybe next time you might believe me. Or not. No biggie.

Lol right on
I grew up with Byron Dafoe - celata29
There was a Bruins backup goalie - can't remember who, exactly.
Anyhoo, in the 2000-2001 training camp, a bunch of Bruins had a few too many soda pops.
The goalie went out onto the street, and started directing traffic at an intersection. He then touched the side of a car, or got too close, or something. The driver stopped, words were exchanged, and I can't remember if the guy punched the goalie or just shoved him, but the goalie ended up breaking his ankle.
And then the Bruins were threatening not to pay the kid's salary while he was on the IR.
Good times.
Edit: John Grahame.
Officially listed as "breaking an ankle while stepping off a curb." |
