Crosby is far faster, handles the puck as good or better. Has a far better shot. And had yet to have that trigger like Kuri on his line. He has put up some pretty impressive numbers on a line with no-bodies..Malkin excluded, he is not a trigger he wants to create his own.

Give the boy a trigger and an enforcer that parks his ass in front of the net.. he scores a ton..

Crosby isnt even the best player on his own team.

Repost ik, but looking for an answer:

Can you really say Crosby is the best of his era...guys missed a lot of hockey. Definitely when healthy the best player, but you can't really staple him the best player of an era when what, 7 years into his career, the majority of 2 of those seasons has been missed.

i see what you mean, but in all seriousness, whos better?

OV?

yes so far with Trophys, a Cup and GWG in Olympics he is the best.
- BingoLady

But how can you define an era based of like 5 seasons? How is 5 years an era? That's what I mean.

5 crosbys

vs

5 gretzkys

who u really think would win?

id say Crosby. cause he may break up a few plays, where gretzky wouldnt.

- big_dion

Gretzky wouldn't have to. He can think too far in advance and see plays that nobody else can see, which would then make it tough for Crosby to stop since he wouldn't see it coming.

That being said, it would be a VERY interesting game.

I think that needs to be an option in the next NHL game.

It is part of your (lame) modus operandi.
- Pecafan Fan

Oh, and that leaves you with yours, name calling when you dont get your own way, imagine if the CoC was actually the same for everyone, and not different for say a mod's friend.

Not knocking the great one, but he did play when they had phonebooks for pads and no one was allowed to touch him. Not saying it is an advantage though, because regardless of when they played it was always equal competition.
- markmark

This is a myth.

Nobody was able to touch him.

Hey i said in that post, when healthy he is the best player....just saying idk if you can say he is the best of an era, when an era is like 15-20 years and he's been around for 7 and missed like 2 seasons.

i wouldnt laugh, he isnt wrong.. coming off an injury crosby scored 39 points in 22 games

that translates into a 145 point season..

and thats the pace he set coming off injury

- Dozzer

Crosby could be unstoppable in this upcoming season and very well could put up more points in a season than we've seen in a VERY long time.

To me, that's the only way you can compare players from different eras.

Wasn't there a year where Gretzky had more assists than the #2 guy had points?

Remember when in your playoff pools, you had to select Gretzky: goals or Gretzky: assists?

Think we will ever do that again?

I don't think so.

- Atomic Wedgie

every hockey pool i have been in (including last year) since crosby came into the league, he went #1 overall, even after Ovi had that 60 goal season.

gretzky is and was a point machine and i highly doubt anyone will ever catch him.

crosby, gretzky and lemieux IMO are the 3 best forwards of all time and il leave it at that.

But he was still the best in the game during the games he DID play in during those 2 season.

In a way. But if you touched him, you got the poop kicked out of you and you would probably get a call against you. Im not saying players didnt touch him, but they paid for it.

Stop putting Crosby infront of Gretzky then. Alphabet be damned.
