You're so (frank)ing transparent its funny. - Prolific_Scorer
I prefered Mario but language had nothing to do with it.
I liked how he could score while carrying 2 guys on his back... Gretzky played a different game, that's all. Not saying one is better, just a matter of preference in the type of game they played.

totally, mario was a warrior and really didnt have a lot to play with until the end of his career when Jagr and he dominated.
both are legends, 2 best ive ever seen play the game.
Crosby is far faster, handles the puck as good or better. Has a far better shot. And had yet to have that trigger like Kuri on his line. He has put up some pretty impressive numbers on a line with no-bodies..Malkin excluded, he is not a trigger he wants to create his own.
Give the boy a trigger and an enforcer that parks his ass in front of the net.. he scores a ton..
So why go out in a way where a whole new generation saw you play as a mediocre player, when you were arguably the best ever, kinda like Mario did. - Prolific_Scorer
True. You think that's really his thinking behind it? He ended up coaching so now that generation he wanted to know him as the greatest ever will only see him as a failure of a coach.

Hard to choose, you can say either one is the second best player of all time, I liked both of them, Mario had the more highlight reel goals, imo.

Repost ik, but looking for an answer:
Can you really say Crosby is the best of his era...guys missed a lot of hockey. Definitely when healthy the best player, but you can't really staple him the best player of an era when what, 7 years into his career, the majority of 2 of those seasons has been missed.
Not knocking the great one, but he did play when they had phonebooks for pads and no one was allowed to touch him. Not saying it is an advantage though, because regardless of when they played it was always equal competition.
