Gonna be hard for the owners to cry poor this CBA. Not that anyone bought that bs last time.
- Prolific_Scorer

15 of them are poor. The other are rolling in money. That's what makes it such a tenuous situation.

well the offer on the table is a joke...but its just to get the ball rolling.
- Fakepartofme

Yeah right, just like the last time they did this and crammed the salary cap right down the players throats...I can see this one getting very ugly...

I don't know, haven't been following too much, but I know some of the insiders like Mackenzie have said they expect a delay to the start of the season.

Good, then the owners will lose 2 or 3 teams and half the league's issues will have resolved themselves, (frank) em really.

Plus Bryz will have one year less on his contract...

Colborne wont be in the NHL to start the year.. he needs to rehab his wrist.

secondly.. the third line centre will be mcclement, he was signed specifically for the role

then you have guys like lombardi and connolly, and if JVR works out at centre.. bozak.

there are alot of bodies to move to make room for more than one guy to make the jump

right now I see the lineup this way barring any moves (realistic)

Lupul Bozak Kessel
JVR Grabovski MacArthur
Frattin McClement Kulemin
Brown Steckel Komarov/Lombardi/Orr/Carter

where does Kadri go if no one is moved?

- Dozzer

That is reasonable, I would expect to see a move though before the season starts. I also don't know where you put in Connolly in that lineup either. I also wouldn't be surprised to see Kadri in over Frattin, but Carlyle does have a big one for Frattin so that is more likely.

That isn't a bad forward group at all though. We certainly do have depth. and young players waiting in the minors to steal positions.

Jay Feaster has to be a hated man right now in NHL circles for that ridiculous Wideman contract. That deal alone has escalated the price point for every defenseman who is looking to sign an extension.
- mikeinbuffalo

PK.

Also, i hope Feaster gets choke slammed by the Undertaker.

2nd line. if the plan is to make Kadri a winger.
Either way, Kadri needs to be in the top 6.
Carter shouldn't even get a sniff of the NHL this year (unless there are injuries).
Orr wont be on team hopefully....I dont mind a Brown Steckel Lombo 4th line.
No clue where Connolly will go......hopefully to another team....such a bad signing.

I don't see a work stoppage, because everyone has too much to lose. The NHL has rebounded decently since the lockout and another one would be crippling to the leauge, players, owners, and fans. I think if they can't figure out a new contract, they'll extend the old one and come to terms eventually. A stoppage is the last thing everyone nees, and call me naive, but after last time, I think everyone realized that.

At least they better have

and yet...teams are still struggling to stay alive in the NHL...but lets continue to overpay players, thatll fix things.
- Colin Dambrauskas

Problem is the teams NOT struggling can pay those salaries so the teams that are struggling need to find a way to pay that amount too or else they'll never get good players and never compete which lowers attendance and in turn loses more money and eventually folds. So they go on a limb and spend a LOT in hopes it will generate revenue after. It's a stupid never ending circle.

In all seriousness though, there are a few other teams I can think of. Philly, Buffalo, Pitt, Carolina, Washington, San Jose, and Chicago. Probably a few others.

What do you guys think about lowering the number of teams? Overall it creates much more talented teams...could be interesting.

I really never understood why they wait for the Summer to begin negotiating, do they want there to be a lockout. I don't think they realize how bad that looks on the league.
- maverickJ

Cause the players are involved in the negotiations too. They are kinda busy during the season...

i just think alot of people are jumping the gun thinking kadri will even make this team.. next year.. when some of the vets contracts are up sure.. chances are good.. but unless some deals are made in the next month.. he's gonna need a hell of a camp to steal a job in the top 6.
