It's just the salary inflation. With the way the cap has risen over the last few years it was only a matter of time before salaries started seeing the same thing happen.

and yet...teams are still struggling to stay alive in the NHL...but lets continue to overpay players, thatll fix things.

Wideman is making 5.5 right? Neuf is not that overpaid, I would say if we had him at 5.5 per he would be underpaid maybe 6 would be right but look at some of the deals across the league.

I would think around 5 - 5.5 would be ok for Phaneuf. Defensively, he simply not that great for the most part. although he did have some moments last season.

Oh wideman is overpaid too no doubt about that.

His only bane would be his speed I would say. He is a little bad at making decisions sometimes though.

Carle and Wideman too, yikes, then you have Leipold saying we have to curb spending and what does he do, gives massive contracts to Parise and Suter, they never learn.

I don't know, haven't been following too much, but I know some of the insiders like Mackenzie have said they expect a delay to the start of the season.

Yikes...you'd think with struggling teams etc that prices would start to be a little more reasonable and yet it seems more and more players are being overpaid!

Jay Feaster has to be a hated man right now in NHL circles for that ridiculous Wideman contract. That deal alone has escalated the price point for every defenseman who is looking to sign an extension.

I would say put him on the 3rd or fourth line to give them some scoring threat, he was good defensively if I am not mistaken. That or do a 3rd scoring line of the youngsters.

Colborne wont be in the NHL to start the year.. he needs to rehab his wrist.

secondly.. the third line centre will be mcclement, he was signed specifically for the role

then you have guys like lombardi and connolly, and if JVR works out at centre.. bozak.

there are alot of bodies to move to make room for more than one guy to make the jump

right now I see the lineup this way barring any moves (realistic)

where does Kadri go if no one is moved? Frattin is a long shot as well with these guys on the roster too

I really never understood why they wait for the Summer to begin negotiating, do they want there to be a lockout. I don't think they realize how bad that looks on the league.

Good, then the owners will lose 2 or 3 teams and half the league's issues will have resolved themselves, (frank) em really.

I'd be happy with half a Stamkos in Kadri.
