Not worse, like I said earlier, I just couldn't find another place to put them. Don't even put too much weight into my projected standings outside the playoffs. Those don't really matter to me. All that matters is the teams that did make the playoffs.

Edm 6th? Really? You think Yaks and Schultz are going to have that much of an impact to bring the Oilers from 14th last year to 6th? realistically your looking at a 11-13 finish in the standings

My predictions:

St. Louis (only if Pietrangelo stays healthy)
Vancouver (could actually see either winning conference, so being a homer)
San Jose (only one win from taking their division last year)
Los Angeles (already a slow starting team, now with a cup hangover)
Chicago (decent team, always in the picture)
Detroit (history of surviving losing star players, think they will again)
Dallas (thinking seeds 7-10 will all be tight, and a fair bit back from 6)
Phoenix (Think their goalie/system keeps them in)
Colorado (youth often means inconsistency, think they are just shy)
Nashville (guessing no suter means moving weber rather than losing him)
Anaheim (another year similar to this one)
Minnesota (lucky for 30 games, worst team in the league for 50, plus 2 players)
Edmonton (still young, still no goalie, still no defense)
Calgary (vets even older, no real improvement)
Columbus (worst team in the conference... and probably losing their best player)

A logical assumption, but they will surprise a lot of people this year. Not playoffs, but they won't be occupying the basement.

"Yakupov + Schultz + more experience for Eberle, Hall, RNH, Gagner + starter minutes for Dubnyk makes the Oilers a much worse team. Oilers need to sign Khabibulin to a long-term contract ASAP and continue giving him 40+ games per season for the next 10+ seasons." ~ Nobody Ever

While I agree 6th is overly optimistic, a healthy Hall and Whitney, plus Hall, Ebs and Nuge all being a year older and Dubnyk likely seeing the majority of starts plus a new coach in Krueger could wind up seeing them shock a lot of people. Whispers are that Klefbom could possibly see training camp this year too.

Mystery year for them. Could possibly wind up playing meaningful games into April, or could possibly suck again. Really don't see basement again though.

Dont get me wrong I would love to see Edm back in the playoffs, their my 2nd favorite team. I think they have a really good future ahead of them. I think Schultz is going to have a tough beginning of the season adjusting to the pro game, and RNH could fall victim to a sophomore slump(unlikely). If everyone can stay healthy I could see the Oilers finishing 10th max. I'm still not completely sold on Dubnyk, as well as the D in Edm. Hopefully the Oilers can scare some teams out west.

You have it backwards, LA starts out great then goes on a slump. We were best team in the league at the start for 2 seasons straight.

My thoughts exactly. Except I don't think Anaheim makes it just yet, but rather Edmonton/San Jose. I might move around the bottom teams as well though.

Waaaaaaaaaay too early to predict this stuff I agree that the Kings, Canucks and Blues are the top teams going in. Should be another tight year in the West

Anaheim really isn't that bad. Somehow every single player managed to underperform. Hopefully a full year with bruce and a few more player changes will help the team out.

Anaheim is that bad. Bad meaning 7-9 at best.

You're right, I looked, and LA did start out a lot better than I remembered. However, they still only lead their division for a total of two days between the start of the season and New Years Eve. November 17 & 18, if your interested.

Despite you being right that LA really hasn't been starting slow, I still think the cup hangover is going to cost them winning the division.
