I think Weber took the money while he could. With the uncertain CBA and rumors of limiting long term and front loaded contracts, he was smart to sign now. If the CBA didn't expire this year, no doubt Weber signs a one year contract with Nashville and explores UFA next year. - RickyBear
I agree with this. If you look at the owners' first offer, it would end deals like this. I know it was their first offer and believe me, I understand how negotiations work, but if I were SW, the money and length would be very tempting, especially facing a lock-out and a bunch of new rules about contracts. |

But they need to SPEND to reach the floor, so perhaps they'd want Olesz and Frolik. - ArlingtonRob
The only way Stan moves Olesz this summer is if he has photos of another GM wearing women's lingeree and doing unmentionable things with sheep. No NHL GM is stupid enough to trade for that contract. |

Even if Weber wants out, and Philly was frustrated will the progress of talks, Nashville could still match and then negotiate more favorable terms next year, or the year after, and so on.
We shall see how it works out. - ArlingtonRob
There is no negotiating. The contract is what it is. Weber is stuck with that deal for the next 14 years. That's the downside to the long term deals from the players' point of view.
How happy do you think Keith is being stuck with his deal for the next decade given what is now being thrown at defensemen around the league. |

If you consider Stan an NHL GM, you have a much higher opinion of him than I do. |

Based on his play the last two years, probably very happy. |

I don't have an issue if his shot gets blocked a little further along it's path, but I agree with the ones blocked within five feet of him. |

Katherine McPhee - of American Idol fame.
We've been discussing babes like Kellie Pickler ever since she sang God Bless America at the MLB ASG last week. So I decided to up the ante a bit with 2 other Idol Goddesses, Carrie Underwood and Katherine McPhee. Check the bigger pix a couple pages back. - blackhawk24

On the condition of bad paper going the other way :
Lu instantly upgrades the goaltending and makes the PK better
If the Hawks win a cup with Lu then Vancouver will burn to the ground
Cons;
Lus monsterous contract
Hawks lose to Vancouver in the WCF with Lu in net and Frolik scoring a hat trick in game 7 against the Hawks.... |

If Preds match, they pay SW $80M over next 6 seasons. Can they spend that AND pay Rinne ($42M over span) AND put talent around two players? -- Bill Meltzer (@billmeltzer) - moylander
They were potentially set-up to put it all on 3 players..So I would say yes. |

Yup. Glad I didn't pay to go listen to the party line again. And I think they might have had to escort me out if I went this year. There's a couple of players I'd like to call out for mailing it in...repeatedly.
If you get millions of $$$ to play hockey, you don't (frank)ing mail it in. Drives me crazy to watch talented guys do that sh!t. - fourfeathers
Ill never understand that either |

Olesz will likely be in Rockford for a while yet. Sure hope he like the Olive Garden. |
