Bettman goes into labor negotiations with a proposal to limit contract length, age for UFA's etc. While the Commish is crying poor to Donald Fehr, the Flyers come out of the closet with this offer sheet for Weber.

I want to be a fly on the wall listening to Bettman and Syder's next telephone conversation.

Only some owners cry poor. This is going right along the lines that MLB follows year after year after year. These negotiations are between big market owners and small market owners.

MLB: NYY, BOS, CHC, LAD, PHI vs PGH, TB, KC, OAK, MIN
NHL: NYR, BOS, TOR, DET, CHI vs WPG, EDM, TB, FLA, CLB

I don't think Hamilton will ever get an NHL team. Toronto and the League won't have it.

The Markham area could support an NHL franchise, but they'd run into the same road blocks as Hamilton.
