Good morning. Lock outmight kill the game again. Would hate for that to happen. But i also think Rocky knows there will be a lock out hence the little roster shuffling.

It's been an off season filled with lack of movement. Not trying to beat a dead horse, but the summer of 2010 was a crappier off season, with the dismantling of the cup team due to the salary cap.

Why would a good coach be fired?
Ya, a guy with 624 wins should have more than one cup. Also, that could be a sign of a coach with a decent team, but maybe not very deep - - - so the coach rides his top guys to get those wins during the season at all costs, and not develop players, thus the top guys are burned out come playoff time. And then the auxiliary guys are not developed or lack the confidence to pick up the slack in the playoffs because they only play 5 mins a game or sit in the booth. Does that sound familiar?

- Topshelf2010

Pat Quinn won 684 games in his coaching career. Never won a cup. Was fired alot!

So he's obviously a bum...

Billy Raey coached for 16 seasons and never won a cup
542 wins 385 loses 175 ties 3 cup final loses.

Another absolute bum...but he lasted 14 years before being fired...how did he keep his job all those years?

So one of you says Q was lucky he won a cup and actually sucks, and another says he sucks because with that many wins he should have more than 1 cup. So which is it?

Go watch wrestling if you want predictable outcomes...

I need a damn Snickers!!

Per Adam Jahns

"During the draft in June, Quenneville said there was “a long list” of “outstanding candidates” he was considering. But a league source indicated that some candidates were wary of joining the Hawks because of the uncertainty surrounding Quenneville’s future in Chicago."

"Last season, the Hawks’ brass sent in Barry Smith, the team’s director of player development and former assistant to senior adviser Scotty Bowman, to help the power play with on-ice instruction.

Sources said the move infuriated Quenneville. An argument between Quenneville and Smith ended Smith’s participation before the playoffs. Rampant speculation about Quenneville leaving the Hawks soon followed."

The Hawks better get off to a good start. How did the front office become so dysfunctional in such a short time. Players don't want to come here coaches don't want to come here. Have they reverted back to the Pully/ Dollar Bill era..

- jhawk159

I don't think the team has reverted to that era...yet. It seems like they're willing to chase and possibly pay free agents. The problem is the dysfunction in the front office and behind the bench that seems to be the turn off.

Southern...I read Sam Fels over at SecondCityHockey...and he seems to think that the Hawks and other clubs (not all obviously), are being cautious due to the CBA garbage.

I tend to agree...

It's just been a weird offseason...some clubs have gone bat shyt insane while others have done little or nothing.

Good morning Blackhawk faithful - let's hope today we get some news on something.

The longer this idleness goes on, the more I think that there will be a lockout.

- powerenforcer

Even if there is, that is no excuse for a team that is supposed to be in the running year after year.

Guess Rocky is going back on his word on banner night:
"...and in more simpler terms, we like the view from the top and we're committed to doing everything we can to stay there."

No coach wins 600 games in the NHL by accident.

It's not that Q is a bad coach, but perhaps his message is falling on deaf ears or his strategy has gone stale.

What sucks about Q is that he is still he, when it's become pretty clear new leadership is needed. Same with the front office. Change is needed.

I think SNAFU applies to the league as a whole right now. I'll bury the Hawks if the season is played, and they suck...

...until then I refuse to join all you friggin' cynics...you know who you are.

Well, if the speculation JJ has is correct, regarding GM-by-committee decisions then ego's are in play. And that's the worst thing that can happen. Ask Bob Murray, Mike Smith, Craig Hartsburg and Dirk Graham just to name a few.

And perhaps the "core" isn't quite the "core" we thought it to be.

And perhaps it's time to bust it up a little.

Per TSN and Darren Dreger all signs point to Roberto Luongo accepting a trade to Chicago for Nick Leddy, Corey Crawford, Andrew Shaw, and a second round pick. Blackhawks will also recieve a conditional third round pick as compensation. Announcement could be held until the Blackhawks open their convention this weekend. Final details are being worked out, but it is believed that Luongo will be present at the convention.
