Don't sweat the assistant job Southern...it's not a big deal. There are bigger things to worry about...like goaltending. - ArlingtonRob

No official offer on the table for Hasek yet but hearing the #Blackhawks have had several good talks with his agent and are quite serious.
Now that is worrisome |

Before long we'll actually be making wagers on Eklund's rumor chart...
"Remember, this is for entertainment purposes only, so no wagering!" - Eklund
And EK, I stand by my call of 4 games, mark me down. - 1goalLordStanley
Wagering for what, bragging rights? |

i am still catching up on the blog - so not sure of all replies to this comment. I agree, he wins the cup and now he is dirt. But it can also be said, well if we won the cup, does that mean that he gets a free pass and then if he does, for how long. As you can tell, i am not a big fan of Q. I think he overplays the main guys too much. Also i am not sure how good this team was or how good the cup team was. But Q was lucky during the cup year - little injuries, played the flyers and won with a rookie goalie, and didn't have to play detroit. One of the keys also, pp was deadly. And if Q was such a great coach, why did he ever leave the Blues? - Topshelf2010
I don't know, but things change. Why on earth did Scotty Bowman leave Montreal in 1979? I guess he had a falling out with management...something about the GM position, a job he wanted.
I know Q's last Blues club was struggling some after a fine run, and management decided to change things up...happens alot in all professional sports. And perhaps management didn't give Q the best players that year.
If winning the cup is the only thing that makes a coach "good" then there aren't alot of them....but guess who has one.
But I see where your going...guys like Babcock and Julien earned their cups, but Q got lucky.
And he's gotten lucky to the tune of...
624 wins 382 loses 77 ties
Q's time will run out in Chicago...all coaches know they will be fired eventually...but delegitimatizing his accomplishments is a joke. |

Speaking of ridiculous...no thanks.
But I don't buy it.
That said...if SB signs Hasek he will officially have jumped the shark...firing offense. |

I think they hit the iceberg when Stanley liquidated the team in 2010.... the ship has been sinking ever since |

Hasek back would be awesome. Those of you who worry, you shouldn't. This is a move that will have a deeper effect should he sign here. Hasek could be our next goaltending coach once Q and his entourage are kicked out.
It's a relationship signing. Again if it happens. |

Why would a good coach be fired?
Ya, a guy with 624 wins should have more than one cup. Also, that could be a sign of a coach with a decent team, but maybe not very deep - - - so the coach rides his top guys to get those wins during the season at all costs, and not develop players, thus the top guys are burned out come playoff time. And then the auxiliary guys are not developed or lack the confidence to pick up the slack in the playoffs because they only play 5 mins a game or sit in the booth. Does that sound familiar? |

Good morning Blackhawk faithful - let's hope today we get some news on something.
The longer this idleness goes on, the more I think that there will be a lockout.

Good morning. Lock outmight kill the game again. Would hate for that to happen. But i also think Rocky knows there will be a lock out hence the little roster shuffling. |

Per Adam Jahns
"During the draft in June, Quenneville said there was “a long list” of “outstanding candidates” he was considering. But a league source indicated that some candidates were wary of joining the Hawks because of the uncertainty surrounding Quenneville’s future in Chicago."
"Last season, the Hawks’ brass sent in Barry Smith, the team’s director of player development and former assistant to senior adviser Scotty Bowman, to help the power play with on-ice instruction.
Sources said the move infuriated Quenneville. An argument between Quenneville and Smith ended Smith’s participation before the playoffs. Rampant speculation about Quenneville leaving the Hawks soon followed."
The Hawks better get off to a good start. How did the front office become so dysfunctional in such a short time. Players don't want to come here coaches don't want to come here. Have they reverted back to the Pully/ Dollar Bill era..

Even if there is, that is no excuse for a team that is supposed to be in the running year after year.
Guess Rocky is going back on his word on banner night:
"...and in more simpler terms, we like the view from the top and we're committed to doing everything we can to stay there."
