If we ever lose Toews, don't know what I'll do?
- Hawkster
Even though I'm sure they will never let him leave and he is one of 2 players I really wish will retire a hawk, he would get us a really huge return. I hope. |

on the outside looking in (with all the things that Bowman and Q have said) it almost looks like a power strugle. |

I've never made it to a game in Milwaukee. I keep talking about it, meeting up with family I have up there, but we just can't seem to put it together.
I hope to get up there for a game one of these days. |

This Kompon guy may be a bad hire...I don't know...seems like a guy who has worked his way up for 20 years or so. Got his first chance behind a bench in LA. Had a decent run, but was also criticized when things got tough.
So his contract wasn't renewed in LA and he moves on. I can only guess that he's learned a few things from the experiences he's had. Perhaps Sutter wanted his own guy. So Kompon has a ring and a pink slip.
What a shock! Q hires a guy he is familiar with, and comfortable with...why is this a bad thing? Would you want him to hire a guy he can't stand? Or a guy he will clash with in the room? Or a guy with completely contradictory ideas?
Yes, Q and company never won a cup with damn good Blues club, but he did win one here recently. But now Q's a bum again and many want him shown the door.
No one knows better how quickly fortunes can change than a professional hockey coach. One moment your lifting the cup, then next you're tarred and feathered. - ArlingtonRob
i am still catching up on the blog - so not sure of all replies to this comment. I agree, he wins the cup and now he is dirt. But it can also be said, well if we won the cup, does that mean that he gets a free pass and then if he does, for how long. As you can tell, i am not a big fan of Q. I think he overplays the main guys too much. Also i am not sure how good this team was or how good the cup team was. But Q was lucky during the cup year - little injuries, played the flyers and won with a rookie goalie, and didn't have to play detroit. One of the keys also, pp was deadly. And if Q was such a great coach, why did he ever leave the Blues? |

You can put me on the top of your list!At $20 dollars a year to participate here it is cheap entertainment!Could care less if I am liked here, care more that the Hawks do well for the long haul!A couple pieces away from being really good, but good none the less! How would you like to be Vancouver? Our "CORE" is alot younger.Still no time to lose as we do have some aging pieces but I prefer the half full glass house. - eagle50
Before long we'll actually be making wagers on Eklund's rumor chart...
"Remember, this is for entertainment purposes only, so no wagering!" - Eklund
And EK, I stand by my call of 4 games, mark me down. |

still trying to figure out the game plan - supposedly the Hawks were in on Parise and Suter, then Doan and maybe now Luongo. Tell me what is the game plan? Making a splash is not much of a game plan. Overpaying for FA is not one too.
looking back - what were they really thinking - they already signed Mayers, Emery and Carcillo early, why?? The Brookbank signing could be ok. Who is replacing Brunette. But still Leddy needs more time and Hjammer, oduya, and Montador are questionable. And they still need a dependable faceoff man. Not to mention the goalie. WTF!!!!!!
For instance, think about the Emery signing. CC already has issues and is a big question mark for next season - maybe he bounces back and maybe not. So Emery is the back up, but he is not going to win you the cup. Why not take a chance on another goalie (prospect)? I guess if CC is not getting the job done, can you trade him during the season, - i guess that is an option. But it would be nice to have a goalie come in with a better opportunitiy to be number 1 and possibly be a cup winning goalie. Right now, not much faith in Emery or CC. |

I wondered at the time why they signed those three when they did. Made no sense to me when they did it, still makes no sense to me now. I don't mind any of those three for what they are, but did Stan really need to rush to resign them? All three of them? Why no urgency with players that actually matter? |
