Actaully Rocky is pretty smart , maybe Rocky thinks there will be no hockey this year....?? I dunno , grasping for reasons to make this average roster make sense. - mrpaulish
I could see him making contingency plans regarding that for things such as non-player payroll insurance, arena operations and the like.
But to oversee an operation (again just guessing here) that overtly does not improve themselves by getting changes so sorely needed sends the message that this whole "One Goal" thing is now a farce.
To waste the vaunted core players' contract time for what appears to be a 2nd straight season is rather disheartening.
I can't believe I'm talking about betting on the demise of the team when just 25 months and 8 days ago, this team was on top of the world. - blackhawk24
Sooner the better so we can move forward.
i'm so over this management....they need to go NOW!
Hey Rocky, grow some and do something....while you're at it get rid of this over promotion and the core concept. It's a team concept, not about 5 overhyped guys.

While there was no impact to the PP percentage, with Smith helping out, the Hawks did end a zero for forty something PP goal drought. - EKolb13
Eli...let's face it. The Hawks PP was bad all year. Late in the season the PP was god awful, and even when they scored they didn't look particularly good doing it...
...something about a blind squirrel applied to the Hawks PP.

Actually they started the season en fuego...then they fell off the cliff and never recovered.

Do they have a game on Chrismas Eve or Christmas Day? If so, that's my vote.

Dunno. I was writing out the lineup for my kids softball game tonight and as I was penciling in my daughters' uni number (#28), I was on HB, saw Ekolb's post and just put in 28 days right away.

Actually, we're doing the picks by game number, not days.

No wonder we have issues. - Hawkster
In the cap era all teams focus on a "core" of players and fill in accordingly. Big money is given to the best players and the remainder of the roster is filled with complimentary players...like it or not that's how it's done. I can see how fans can get tired of the word core, especially when fortunes turn sour.
The Kings are lucky that few players were UFA after this cup season, but they'll have problems eventually and their roster will need to be turned over.
This is where scouting, drafting, signing FA's and trading comes in...the front office. A good GM and staff can keep a team competitive when turnover is needed. So far, SB and company have failed to keep the Hawks on top....decent, but not great. Playoffs, but no advancement.
If things don't change, there should be changes in the front office...paging Rocky Wirtz!
Is it any wonder that few teams come close to repeating as champs.
