The pride is...GONE.

Sad state of affairs indeed!

Maybe someone will grow some balls and get something done.

Rocky was a big fan of the "The Pride is Back" banner that someone had at a game a coupe years ago...maybe someone needs to bring the "Pride is Gone" banner to the convention.

You don't think the fact that they just won a Cup and Don't want this guy back is a bit of a red flag? If ain't broke don't fix it right? So why are they "fixing" it?

I hope all of us are the biggest dumb asses in hockey, I hope in late June we're all like "Wow, I believe Corey Crawford was a stud, I cant beloeve Toews and Kane had 100 points, I can't believe the Hawks won the cup twice in my lifetime......."

I'll glad eat crow if the Hawks win the Cup in 2013. I doubt I will though.

BTW, how was "sensitivity" training?

After the cup this team has brought in Kitchen, Gauthier and now Kompon. Is it a prerequisite that you be incompetent to get a job with the Blackhawks?
- EKolb13

Exactly. They lost a bunch of highly respected hockey people and brought in laughing stocks. Its not just the fans ripping these people, but actual hockey people, too. Hard to believe that in 2 short years since the Cup how far this team has fallen

Not thrilled with the Kompon signing - another Q krony - probably a yes man.

take a look at the kings, they get a new coach and win the cup. The kings have been underachieving for several years. Kings still look solid for years to come.

- Topshelf2010

And Sutter got rid of Kompon because he wanted one of his cronies in there - don't know about the yes-man part, but that's a reason why he's out of LA.

trade Bieksa

"The (Q) universe is unfolding exactly as it should …"

For those of us who have him on the clock.

- djd

Desiderata

Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even the dull and ignorant; they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.

Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs; for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself.
Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be critical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself.

You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy.

Unless he is the brains behind Q, then that could be good. But even with the stacked teams down in St.Louis, that Q team never won the cup.

- Topshelf2010

This Kompon guy may be a bad hire...I don't know...seems like a guy who has worked his way up for 20 years or so. Got his first chance behind a bench in LA. Had a decent run, but was also criticized when things got tough.

So his contract wasn't renewed in LA and he moves on. I can only guess that he's learned a few things from the experiences he's had. Perhaps Sutter wanted his own guy. So Kompon has a ring and a pink slip.

What a shock! Q hires a guy he is familiar with, and comfortable with...why is this a bad thing? Would you want him to hire a guy he can't stand? Or a guy he will clash with in the room? Or a guy with completely contradictory ideas?

Yes, Q and company never won a cup with damn good Blues club, but he did win one here recently. But now Q's a bum again and many want him shown the door.

No one knows better how quickly fortunes can change than a professional hockey coach. One moment your lifting the cup, then next you're tarred and feathered.

Al, you make way too big a deal about last years extra cap space. The cap went up more than expected the year before the CBA expired. Only 4 teams were able to "bump" the salary cap last year. That is only a third of the teams that did so the year before. The Red Wings knew it was most likely Lidstrom's last year and they were further under the cap than the Hawks. Was that "bad management" from Detroit?
- DaleHalas

Deflect and spin...

A GM who leaves $7 mill in cap space which when prorated at the deadline, is enough to trade for a boat load of expiring contracts and does very little...And then doesn't win a round in the playoffs, well that's a critical error in overestimating ones team.

My point stands.

I said in January it was a wide open year and with some improvements the Hawks could have had a long playoff run.

The 8th seed won the Cup and the Hawks lost 3 games on home ice and were done in the 1st round.

So my point is valid in my eyes.

By bump the cap my definition would be within 2 mill or so not $200,000...

Who cares anything about Detroit but as long as you are reaching...

They left a lot of space open by design, that was their plan and it isn't my opinion but Babcock said the same...

Detroit was about the best team in the NHL through 60 games, the Hawks were not, and then they fell off becasue of a lack of depth...So yes I think they made a mistake too.

Right now their plan needs work....And as soon as I can figure out a plan here I will comment as to whether I think it can work for the Hawks next season.

I'm done defending an opinion when you bring up variables that have nothing to do with last season for the Hawks. The Cap going up more than expected etc...straw man arguments........Bowman had fair warning as to what the cap limit was going to be for last season.

Your original point about having to play young players due to cap issues was wrong.

Spin away but you are on your own.

I hear that the CBA has him spooked and the team is on lockdown as far as major expenditures.

Did they try hard to get Parise and Suter? They did.

- John Jaeckel

Doesn't this seem to contradict itself. Rocky does not want major expenditures but pushed Stan for Parise and Suter?

Barry Smith. 22 yrs experience tactical guru for special teams and oh he is already employed by the CBH. But alas Q thought of only himself and his ego. If anyone should get booed at the convention only this bozo does.
- scorerstouch

Really?! You know the man well enough to suggest megalomania caused this hire?

I have no idea what the relationship is between Barry Smith and Q, and I bet you don't either.

Does Smith even want to get behind a bench again? No clue...

If Smith and Q have problems, why do they work for the same organization? No clue...

Would Smith be the answer to all that ails the Hawks PP? No clue...

I just refuse to get bent out of shape about the hire of an assistant coach...and my complaints will come AFTER he fails.
