Al,
Jamie sounds like the PERFECT guy for the job.
Q wouldn't want someone that would buck his system or upset his kingdom. Now he's got his perfect little world, surrounded by know-nothings that have career track records of failure. No real need to go out and hire a smart candidate.
I think Q just sealed his fate and will end up hanging by his own petard.

I expect them to spin when they do something, however minor.
It's the spin when they don't do anything that's gaulling. |

The season can't start soon enough. This slow bleed of demoralizing moves, and lack there of, is killing me.
I need an IV. |

That's a little more than unfair JJ. All Bus has said was if this is a wasted season (right or wrong) that Saad may as well get a year of seasoning under his belt. I don't agree with that idea (he needs time in the A and the Hawks needs someone ready now), but nowhere did Bus tout him as a star or predict a Calder for him. I know you don't like the FO pushing this kid on the fans like he is a savior, but you seem to get awfully testy when his name comes up.
The earlier poster had it right, Saad has become quite the lightning rod on this board for some reason. Kid isn't going to have a chance whenever he arrives in Chicago with some of you guys. - PhatJoeSki
Thank you. Thats all I'm saying...
Until we get some legitimate toughness on F and D to go with our smallish skilled guys, its going to be another first round exit... Obviously there's no one in the farm system to do that soon. (Johns maybe)
I don't want to see us wasting any more years of Toews, Hossa and Seabs either... |

No, Al, I did see that too --
And you were spot-on with that call (kudos to you my friend!)
I just was hoping that the connection would NOT be someone reviled by another team's fan base, someone that not only we did not know but actually had a track record of success.
Al, do you know if this guy (PP aside) might be capable of mentoring the young D (Leddy in particular)??? That's really what I'd like to know.
It's clear and quite obvious that Q and Kitchen don't know WTF they are doing in that regard. |

Off Twitter..

Scouting report on Jamie Kompon from someone who would know: "utterly incompetent in handling power play."

Why don't we end the mystery...The players may change but Mike Kitchen will still have the power play on his watch.

Tyler Cameron @tycam
@kieledge "#Blackhawks name Jamie Kompon assistant coach replacing Mike Haviland." what's the scoop on him? #blackhawks #kings
His reply:
Kiel Edge @kieledge
@tycam he ran the powerplay that was about 1-356 all playoffs, not sad to see him go, wore nice suits though.... #goodluckwithhim
Clearly better choices out there IMO. The dark cloud continues to roll over the Hawks org.

Please, get over it
Like I said, i'm a jerk for being cynical/suspicious of Saad. You're being completely reasonable and rational for thinking he's ready at 19, after being drafted in the 2nd round last year to step in on the top 6 of an ostensibly playoff bound team.
Right.
So let's proceeed.

(A) IT CAN'T BE A WASTED SEASON - not with this core, not with 2 wasted seasons in a row
(B) Why put a kid (Saad) into a situation where he's likely to struggle and failure is a real possibility - let him work in Rockfish and learn how to be a pro. How many talented kids have been ruined by rushing them to the majors, in any sport, instead of getting the required 1,500 at bats in the minors so they no how to succeed and to come out of slumps and become mentally (and physically) tough enough to be major leaguers?
(C) Kid will have every chance with this group - but this group will not sugar coat his weaknesses or failures. Not that he spends time here, but if he's not tough enough to take to criticism, keep him at Rockfish until he is. |

Q begging to be fired. - JoeHawks88
Well, JJ cited a coach's shelf life is 4-5 years. Q hits 4 years at game 4. Guess he's right on schedule.
28 games in, regardless of a 2-3 month lockout or not.
And I can only wish for a complete house-cleaning by Rocky, though I fear that won't happen. |

Not one thing said on this board will have any influence on whether Saad stars or swan dives. Not. One. Thing.
No one wants to see him fail. I hope he has a nice season. Will that be what this team needs? No. That's the point.

The economics are a factor but the Hawks played well under the cap for the entire season....There was no need to worry about pennies because there was about $6 mill in cap space vacant. - Al
If there's cap space, which there's been going back over a year, there's no reason to play prospects. |

That would be my guess too. Let the boys get over their excitemnet of a new season. The first sign of a tailspin and he's gone. |
