Who started this whole Bolland for Luongo deal? That's just ridiculous. I've never read that here and if someone says HockeyInsiderr posted it, I'll puke - eburgio

No, it wasn't insiderr. I saw it a couple places yesterday. I think one was that CSN article someone posted here yesterday that someone said was from a Vancouver best writer. I forget where else I saw it. Just a rumor. |

Jason Blatchford (?) from the Province. He's a notoriously biased, Hawk hater in my experience, however.
When I was taken to task for saying Henrik Sedin had bad-mouthed the Hawks after eliminating them in 2011, it was Blatchford's piece that ultimately supported what I'd said— and he personally felt it was fine for Henrik to disrespect the Hawks, as though they "deserved it."
So I guess I'm saying, he might have some insight here in terms of what is leaking from the Canucks, but my experience is he is very biased. |

Most Canucks reporter are, in my opinion. Most writers are biased towards there home town teams, but Vancouver is more biased than most (again, in my opinion). That doesn't mean they don't write entertaining articles, but I always take what they say about the Blackhawks with a grain of salt. |

Especially with the scoring talent they already have. They need someone who can help maintain possession in the offensive zone and go to the net. That makes all of the forwards better. - Return of the Roar
Can we make Montador play forward... it worked with Buff |

Ha. Yeah right. But he did play some on the PP early on during the season, parking in front of the net. Worked out a couple times. |

If it's privately held, no........ But that didn't stop Crains Business Weekly from doing a story after the Hawks won the cup that they lost money that year!
Was that Rocky leaking what he wanted known, or something else? - Mr Ricochet
Hockey operations lost money
United Center income / parking lot income (both separate business groups with Reinsdorf as I understand it) I doubt count towards hockey monies. Which is a big chunk of change.
Plus debt incurred from not being on TV for nearly 10 years and only 400 people in the stands for a number of years has contributed to them "losing money" as it were.

I (frank)ing give up. See you all when something actually happens. - Ogilthorpe2
Dont hold your breath ogi!!!!! I suspect there will be a fireing before a trade actually happens. Most likely Q if this team that will most likely have a bunch of not yet ready for prime time rookies has a very slow start. Then Bowman maybe sees the door on the failure to inprove the team as it some how just misses the playoffs by a point. |

The original story on Bolland being made available was here...On May 4...
http://www.myfoxchicago.c...awks-core-about-to-change
I don't think it was anywhere around here before I wrote it....But it was before the Habs/Q. stuff, which may have changed his status, and it did not involve the Canucks or any specific team.

I wonder how popular Bolland is with teammates? I'm sure the style he plays makes a lot of enemies around the league. But i never heard anyone question hhis work ethic. I really like him and would hate to trade him. A lot of people here undervalue him in my opinion. |

If you're looking for what the company line is today, go read Rogers' article on ESPN Chicago. Its pitiful, I normally am neutral on what he has to say, but that article is straight up embarassing. |

There might be no choice but to give Crawford another year, but that doesn't make it a good idea. What Jesse seems to completely brush over is that Luongo is a better goalie than Crawford right now. And the Hawks need to be serious about winning a CUP right now. You can keep kicking the can down the road to give this guy or that prospect more time— but in the end it's just making excuses for an organization that's been spinning it's wheels for over 2 years (and losing ground). And Toews gets another year more fed up and closer to free agency, Hossa to retirement, etc. |

Couldn't have said it any better myself. The line that got me was, "Give Corey Crawford another chance. If not, his deal is up one year later, and he could easily be traded, released, sent to Europe" So this season is a wash? With a top 5 player in the league entering his prime they aren't trying to win a cup? Stan better pull something because he's got a huge round of Bronx cheers coming his way later this week. |

I think the complementary, physical space creator guy you describe needs to have hockey sense and instinct and hands to keep the play going, pass and score occasionally. But he should not be measured merely or primarily by points. - John Jaeckel
I have a fantastic way to measure the effectiveness of such a player. How about points produced by Toews, Sharp, Kane and Hossa in the PLAYOFFS. Last 2 years it was nothing with the likes of Brunette, Kruger, Stalberg. Cup year.. unstoppable. With the likes of Byfuglien, Ladd, Brouwer.
The Q and Bowman show are absolutely clueless here... And it's going to be moderate to good success in the regular season and early playoff exits til it gets addressed. |

We are not the Edmonton Oilers....we are not rebuilding!!!
We have star players making 5, 6 and close to 7 million dollars a year yet the supporting crew is closer to the OHL & AHL. WTF?
Either your contending for the cup or you're not!! Plain and simple.
Why bother having these high priced players if you're not going to surround them with players that can take them to the next level. Why bother.
I don't get it?

Hawk is the town drunk. He is a joke of an announcer, and almost a bigger homer than Jack Edwards (Boston). I really feel sorry for Steve Stone to have to sit next to that fool. - powerenforcer
I don't really have an issue with Hawk...announcers don't matter that much too me, I'm more interested in the outcome.
Feel sorry for Stone? Really? The guy wasn't forced to take the job, it was his choice. Stone is making a bundle and his contract has him getting several series off to head home to AZ. |

I love Stoney. The way that dude calls a game is unreal. It's too bad all of the players (and manager) on the Cubs got butt hurt from the criticism by the announcers towards the end of 2004 |
