It has nothing to do with Luongo "Sucking" It has more to do with his history with the Hawks. I cant ever see him accepting a trade there.
- TheCouv

But he already said he would consider it. Not rumor, he said it. I think its more that people are afraid he might come here and actually win. Not saying he will, he could stink the joint up. And I'm not necessarily talking about your opinion, often nuckers on the hawks board come in and express the opinion that he sucks but Van. shouldn't trade him to Chicago. Just seems counter intuitive.

Keep going...far too light. Add a pick and another prospect, at least. They will also need some salary going away, and leddy doesnt do that.
- HealthyScratch1

Crawford, Frolik, and Leddy for Luongo and Tanev.

Ya but at least he would be more than halfway home! Also so what if the Chicago fans gave him a hard time,he got worse in Vancouver and that was his own team.If he is willing to go to Chicago either he is confident or just stupid!I tend to think maybe he also realizes that he wasn't the only reason for the Canucks' playoff failures. But I bet he is tired of being the scapegoat!

I think Luongo would have no problem going there, they're a good team. It's Gillis that would have an issue with it!

The 2 players I would love to see in a Canucks jersey would be Bolland and Marchand...... that would be glorious

Bolland, Leddy or Haljmarson and a second for Luongo would do the trick. Fix both teams needs.

What a nightmare though if Luongo goes to the Hawks and helps them win a cup..... that would kill us fans.

- CanuckforLife

It it were to happen it would be more like Frolik-Olesz and the UC house band for Bobby Lu.

Do you really think Gillis is going to land a top 3rd line center, a top 4 dman on most teams or a young puck rushing dman and a 2nd round pick for Luongo???

Gillis is not going to get far value for Bobby Lu....and BTW that would be more than far value. Gillis will take what he can get.

That's obviously not true or he would have traded him for nothing by now. Gillis is apparently asking a lot for a guy who's been nominated twice in the last few years for the Vezina.

JJ,

In your expert opinion why do you believe the Hawks are not getting a lot of love from the remaining free agents?

Is it money, the team, management, coaching, locker room issues?

I would think Chicago is a place players would want to go to.

Who would'nt want to play with captain serious?

Bowman is in love with Saad...he isn't going anywhere. (I would trade McNeill and Emery for Bernier). Plus, I see Bernier ending up in Toronto.

It would never happen.

Doug Maclean says it best . "Gillis is a very stubborn man . He will not trade Lu in a salary dump".

If that is what Bowman is offering ,you will be enjoying Crawford and Emery for the next few years.

Except it isn't ever going to be for nothing ....How much $$ is left on Luongo's deal.

There aren't many teams that need Luong and fewer teams that can afford him.

Gillis is a bag holder....His only choice is to force Luongo to go the AHL, which the owner may not want to happen, keep him as a #2, or find anyone who wants him.

The Canucks have 0 leverage....Period.

They only have some choices and most are very, very costly.

Oh there is one more option....Luongo could play overseas like Huet but Gillis will give him a way before that happens or Luongo will play with the Wolves.

You guys need to keep your Centers and develop them. For me its Saad and Emery or its Morin, Emery and a pick.

We don´t know about that, do we? I have hard time believing that Gillis gives us Luu just for leftovers. Reports say that asking price is quite a lot for Luongo. And that´s probably why he isn´t traded yet.

If Gillis was forced to do a salary dump which he is not ,he would do it with the Panthers ,not the Leafs or Hawks.

If Gillis was to send Lu to Europe until a team realized they need him,Marcus Naslund is the GM of Modo.

His hands are nowhere near tied yet.

Then he won't trade him because there won't be anyone of present value going back to the Canucks that can come close to equalling Luongo.

His best hope is to take back one bad contract and get picks and prospects....Which probably won't be 1st tier yougsters but they could work out someday.

The Hawks could make a hockey trade to acquire a Kipper for example....there are some options.

You may not want to call it a salary dump trade....Many on here wouldn't call the Campbell trade that...

But that's what it was exactly and BTW Campbell didn't ask to be traded...or to "move on".

Gillis should have made this deal last yr. with Fla, now he is in a tough spot.

Well you better get a sweater because Vancouver is about to get really cold then.

If this is the case then we are all wasting time. A rival will not get a quality goalie for salary dump. End of thread right now .
