Ogi, you know how I feel about the Sharpe contract, but unfortunately his no trade kicked in on July 1st, he will finish his career a Hawk.
Vantel, Luongo can't be sent to Europe without first clearing waivers, he would be claimed and the Nucks would get nothing. Gilis has no leverage. If by some miracle Gilis and Bowman decided to get something done it would be swapping salaries according to each teams needs.
eg. Luongo goes to Hawks, Nucks need a backup. Hawks get Luongo, no longer need Crawford. Luongo 5.33 for six more years and Crawford 2.6 for two more years. Bowman will want to send more salary and needs to move a Dman. Nucks could use a veteran depth Dman. Montador 2.75 for three more years. Total going each way, Nucks 5.33, Hawks 5.34.
The Nucks would fill out their 23 man roster without increasing their cap. Both teams would address their needs. This is the type of deal Bowman will be looking at, I don't see him offering up Bolland or any other core player. Gilis has no leverage and not a lot of options. I would guess Tallon and Burke have been offering a lot less. |

Or...FLA gets involved...Lu goes to the Panthers to squander his remaining good years, wins nothing and is forgotten in a decade.
Most likely outcome... |

This is exactly why I could see Crawford, Frolik and a prospect like Pirri. Gillis could claim to be dealing from a position of strength to get another center in the system and a former 20 goal scorer, all while gaining cap space.
Edit: I also don't see any way anyone trades for Montador until they're pretty sure he's healthy. |

Isn't waivers a dangerous route if Gillis wants to avoid Lu going to a western rival?
I guess your not serious am I correct? - ArlingtonRob

He did predict Crawford would replace Turco by Thanksgiving a few years ago before the season started. It took about a month longer than that, but he was essentially correct. |

Agree, the Hawks are Gilis last choice, all Tallon has to do is come reasonably close to what the Hawks offer. If Tallon drives the price up, Bowman should walk away and give Crow a shot. |

I stil think FLA is the likely destination. Panthers always need to hit the salary floor, Lu has a history with FLA, and Gillis wants him out of the Western Conference.
Then again...I'm just a fan, what do I know. |

NHL source has #CONFIRMED me #CANUCKS have 2 year 12M$ offer ON THE table for #DOAN >> Ball in your court Shane.
Oh, oh.....just got interesting. - Hawkster
Lol hockey insiderr.... Even though the canucks have the 10% until the season starts thats really banking on freeing up at least 3mil more (in addition to the 3 mil they have available. If they can't move Lou they would just continue to further handcuff themselves with their personel as well as with the Luongo situation. |
