The only danger is waiting too long, and then having zero options. Keeping Lu on the roster could lead to clubhouse problems.
- ArlingtonRob

I believe that Gillis is seriously considering this, and in the end will lower his asking price because of it.

Yes but you are dumping Lu to us for 4 or 5 times the contract length of A Frolik who I think has 2 years left. Like I suggested 1 of our bad contracts and a "b" prospect should be fair compensation. Chicago is taking the much bigger risk here. If Lu's contract had 5 years left for example instead of 10 years, then A.You wouldn't be trading him or B. the return due would be much much greater than a "b" prospect.

If you feel Luongo is a bad aquisition then why the hell would you want anything to do with it?

Hockey InsideRR with two Rs for double Retardation just said that Lu to Florida is happening, so now for sure you know that wont happen !
- mrpaulish

I don't believe HI at all . The only thing about the Fla trade rumour that makes me wonder is, that the owner flew out to Vegas last Monday for a very impotant dinner meeting. Lu was in Vegas last week for the WSP tourney.

I still say that Lu to FLA means he'll never win a cup and that he doesn't care...

Lu continues to collect insane dollars, wife happy...cruise into retirement with a yawn and a stretch...

...sigh, life is good on the beach.

Just my (somewhat informed) opinion:

There are players here that some don't want to play with. The reason those players are here extends to the front office and management. The front office is the big problem. Th infighting and conflicting agendas are now widely known throughout the league. Again, just my opinion, but it is borne out by much of what I've heard and observed.

- John Jaeckel

Pretty bold statement from a trusted source and yet nobody asks who these players might be? instead we bicker about that stupid Luongo trade!

Although we probably won't find out who JJ is talking anout until they're traded, but how bad have things gotten in Chicago that other players do not want to play with Us because of certain players.

It's like there is a big elephant in the room that the insiders know but that nobody wants to come and say what it is?

Aren't you curious? I know I am.

Scenario: Luongo gets traded to FLA, and Theodore is not sent the other way.

Does anyone in Hawk Nation oppose to trading for Theodore? Or maybe include him in a larger deal. Not condoning to this, just curious.

Bernier to Chicago
- LA_Kings6720

Enjoying the chalice there? There's a team 1,000 miles North that won't for some time.

I'd take Bernier in a heartbeat - to compete with CC.

Vantel,

This isn't a personal slap so please don't be offended...I like reading your comments but to think Gillis has any leverage is absurd.

First you had trouble admitting Luongo asked to be traded(wants to move on is really the same thing) and once that happened any leverage Gillis had was gone.

Personally I would be fine with Luongo coming here as long as it was for a low price but I think Gillis will convince Fla. to take him or Luongo will expand his list of teams.

Either way the Canucks will get back no more than projects/draft picks/ bad contracts or off the radar prospects.

Like I have said too many times, Gillis hestitated....

The Hawks gave Campbell away but the front office knew teams that are $30 mill under the cap with a familar GM to boot don't come around very often.

I didn't like the Campbell dump then and won't until the cap space saved is used wisely.

He who hesitates is lost and right now Gillis is caught.

As far as the comments from you and others about goal tending issues here...

I realize the importance because in my lifetime there have been three HOF goalies that have played for the Hawks. That's something the Canucks, Flyers and other clubs haven't had in the last 50 years...

But you don't open the check book too wide to buy something there are no buyers for.

Vantel, consider this is a personal slap, so please be offended.
Many posters, including jj and al, enjoy your comments, but it almost like this is your home? Sometimes you make valid points, but on this, you and other vanc fans are way off base.
If bobby lu is is the answer, why did vanc sign Schneider to length and $$ to be#1 goalie? Why did Lu asked to be moved? With that said, where is vanc leverage?
Vanc NEEDS to move Lu to avoid team issues, plain and simple.to think otherwise is almost delusional.
Lu's contract is an albatross, no way around it. To expect anything of value in return is laughable.
Would I like to see Lu here? I think he is a serious upgrade to what the hawks have.
Do I expect ANY team to offer better than rusty trombone and a bag of pucks? Nope!
Any GM who does should be fired immediately!!!!!!!
I hope stanbo gets cold feet again and vanc is saddled with Lu as a backup.
Enjoy the same first round exit as the hawks
Til then, buh bye

I wouldn't think its they don't want to play with the guys but rather they don't want to play under Q and Kitch's coaching.

So rumor has it that some current players on the Hawk roster are so reviled around the NHL that journeyman players are spurning the Hawks advances? Really?!?!

Winnik turned his nose up to the Hawks? If thats the case, Doan ain't coming here for 10M per.

If this is true the offending players should be launched, then everyone below Rocky should be beaten with blackjacks and fired, including receptionists.

IF Tallon deals for Luongo, Either Clemmensen or Theodore would be heading back the other way to Vancouver.

Agreed. I'd really love to see this stuff addressed. Watch any of the video or interviews from the cup team. They had CHEMISTRY! We need that back. Maybe if the guys like coming to the locker room every day, they'll quit mailing it in.

And if the front office or the coaching staff is the problem, then its time to clean house. JMO.

I don't understand it. All the Nuckers think that Luo sucks and they don't want him anymore. But yet they get upset when someone suggests he might be a Blackhawk. If he sucks wouldn't you want him to come here?
- bejewell

Don't believe the lame stream media.real Canucks fans don't hate Bobby Luo.we know he's a world class goalie despite hawks bloggers who harp on him being supposedly mentally weak.gillis knows he's a legit number one in this league and anyone who wants him should pay the price.

Was referring to Montadore, but I agree Gillis will take what he can get. I just think that he will continue to say no until he feels he is improving his team. Luongo does have a NTC, but he has stated publicly that he would waive if it was the right thing to do for everyone. Not saying he will go anywhere, but I think he is more willing to move than some people have said.
- 1970vintage

I see about Montador...

Lu may have to expand his list or the owner in Florida will agree to take him...Big issue is how mnay teams can there be? 3-5??

Gillis could stick with Luongo for awhile and that's what I would do if he were younger and had a different contract.

I just think all the stars will have to line up for Gillis to make a hockey trade.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around the notion that there may be vile deutsche banks on the Hawks roster that have poisoned the club in the eyes of free agents.

As a fan, my idea of players that are DB's must not be close to that of players.

If any of this is a fact, I would guess that the Hawks are f'd going forward.

Me personally... the only way I want that contract is if it's part of a bigger deal bringing Kelser here. Like Sharp and Leddy or something along those lines. Very remote to impossible. The same chances I think of any of this happening...

It's quite possible he could be waiting for a very long time for that price to be met.

I'd pass on Kesler myself. He's sort of "iffy" with his shoulder problem.

I'm one of the few Canucks fans who would entertain a Kesler trade and I would take Sharp in a heartbeat. Lu+Kesler for Sharp+Leddy+Crawford+1st

Actually, Florida probably has the best prospect pool in the NHL. They have a very bright future.
