I literally just bought that movie. I'm a big horror movie fan and Rob Zombie is up there with the best.

Yeah that movie was a great one. Didn't like the 2nd one as much. That was a great character, though

This actually hurts teams more then it does helping them. Small market teams won't make big deals for huge money and home grown talent will also be harder to keep because every 5 years your going to have to negotiate. The panthers are 21 mil under the cap and they made no moves at all for Parise or Suter (at least none reported). Their not in on Doan by all accounts.

Teams that spent the pick, time developing talent, all to see the guy walkaway after 5 years because your cap is too tight? Nah. Pass on this. I think there should be limit to the number of contracts they can have that are 10 years plus but no way restricted to not having them.

Can you imagine trying to keep Toews and Kane with only 5 year deals? Expect both to get Parise money, for sure on Toews. Kane is another story.

No matter what terms are settled on - and no matter what analysts say the results will be - in three years, things will work out completely different from what everyone thought.

Crap - I just read that: is there a coherent English sentence in their somewhere?

As of right now the #Canucks are EXCLUSIVELY talking to #Leafs about dealing Luongo. Sources say their offer is closest to Gillis' liking.

Hockeyy Insiderr ‏@HockeyyInsiderr
Furthermore, while Luongo has NOT yet been asked to waive NTC he has been contacted over phone by Gillis (informally)

Hockeyy Insiderr ‏@HockeyyInsiderr
Luongo was asked if he would waive NTC to go to TO if he were asked to do so and he said yes. #CONFIRMED #Leafs #Canucks trying to do deal.

Hockeyy Insiderr ‏@HockeyyInsiderr
#Panthers and #Blackhawks still could up their bid but as of right now sources say asking price is too much for both those teams for Lou.

Crawford has played 30 some odd more games at the NHL level but when you compare their entire CAREER stats and not just games played at the NHL level Bernier is the better goalie. You can try and spin it any way you want but the bottom line is Crawford has been and is a mediocre goalie that had 1 good season out of 14 years of playing. Can he somehow become a top goalie in the league this year? Sure, it's possible but very highly unlikely. There is a very real possibility however that he will be what he has been his entire career which is a sub par goalie.
- Tuke17

Take a breath because you are incorrect on a number of levels.

I never said Bernier can't be a better goalie someday than Crawford. You can say he is now, but I won't because Bernier has played only 48 games as a pro, Crawford has played in 122 NHL games. I don't know where you are coming up with one good season in 14 years as a pro for Crawford. Also if you want to project Bernier as a top goalie no problem but for me sample size matters a lot, especially for a goal keeper.

My contention, although you keep beating the drum for Bernier is Lombardi isn't going to send him to the Hawks to be the #1 as you say, unless there is a big over payment. He doesn't need to reach for a trade....There are a list of teams that will want to acquire Bernier and Lombardi won't be forced to trade with a playoff rival.

Seeing that you keep heading down a blind road my point in bringing up Leclaire and Mason earlier is they were thought to be franchise goalies after having vg pro years and basically fell apart afterwards.

Projecting what a goalie can become after 2 full seasons is tricky...after 48 games it's not worth the keystrokes for me.

I spin nothing....I never said Crawford was the chosen one...The Hawks did when they let Niemi go.

What I will say is the reason the Hawks had an up and down season last year and lost in the 1st round again was not only because of Crawford.

No one is going to help the Hawks...Bernier isn't going to fall intotheir lap,and unless Bowman gets creative and aggressive Crawford/Emery will be the Hawk goalies to start the season.

Lombardi's way to keep up the price for bernier, S-M-R-T.

I see what you're saying. My thinking is that you'd eliminate a lot of these ridiculous front end loaded 98 million over 13 contracts. With the cap it won't be so easy to offer these 12-14 million signing bonuses with declining salary over five years therefore more teams in play. The days of Doan-like loyalty to a franchise went out with the advent of free agency IMO.

In the case of 19 and 88 did they not sign 5 year deals taking them to that magic number—27 years of age? Same thing now, no? Who's to say they stay?
