Jaeckel, almost everything you've put out over the last month and a half has been speculation driven from public press conferences and or inferences made towards possible trades and moves that can be easily rumored by anyone - a source this and a source that... In the wake of all of the inactivity from the Blackhawks, I'd simply ask you to reconsider your sources and the strength of what you are getting. It's not hard for the in-tune Hawk fan to give most of what you have to us. I appreciate your work but would ask you to validate your content or write when there is actual news, not just to post a blog daily here or to promote the radio show.

Last time I checked HockeyBuzz is a RUMOR BLOG.

If you want actual news, wait for the Tribune to publish it after it's announced.

I think he could make 1 trade (EDM, OTT, MTL) and a couple UFA signings. And if done well, this team's complexion would look one helluva lot better.

I agree. We have alot of value in this organization.Just need to shuffle the deck!

The way I look at it is they'll probably settle for 1/2 of what they're asking for.

50-52% revenues
7 years to unrestricted FA
4 years on entry levels

I think they'll stick with 5 year max contracts. This keeps everybody in the game when it comes to signing people.

The big question is will the players accept another salary rollback.

There's also a mindset that the owners could care less if the season starts on time where the players do care. So this could ugly.

Don't forget, this is Bettman, the only ever NHL commish to lockout the players and he's done that twice.

- djd

If the players go with that then they won't stick with extending years for entry level contracts.

Perhaps internet sports rumor messages broads just are not your thing? If you're going to female dog and complain about JJ, it's obvious you need to find better ways to spend you time.

My wife and all the other neighbor's wives spend their free time scrap-booking. They even take weekend trips together to do it. I'm sure they spend time female doging and complaining about us guys while doing it.

It sounds like a perfect fit for you.

I am aware that Bernier hasn't played a half season in the NHL and that was why I compared their career stats.

...And that's why they I can't compare the two, games played matters a lot.

- Al

Crawford has played 30 some odd more games at the NHL level but when you compare their entire CAREER stats and not just games played at the NHL level Bernier is the better goalie. You can try and spin it any way you want but the bottom line is Crawford has been and is a mediocre goalie that had 1 good season out of 14 years of playing. Can he somehow become a top goalie in the league this year? Sure, it's possible but very highly unlikely. There is a very real possibility however that he will be what he has been his entire career which is a sub par goalie.

Not to say this is remotely true due to the 'source' Ek but apparently an EC team not the Flyers offered Doan $30M/4yrs. That's a $1M/yr more at the same term I figured he'd actually get.

If that's the case and it's only money he'd go for - if PHX is out of the picture only - then the 'Hawks are out.

Really...7.5M a year....for 4 years...

Did anyone see anything in the owners proposal about eliminating the salary cap?

If Doan is "worth" 7.5 M a year, what will Toews be worth when his deal expires?

Doan's style of play is just what the hawks need but that size contract is surprising

Can rocky offer him a job after retirement working for one of his ditributors?

Not sure if Rocky is even involved in that any more. Thought Peter took over that. Besides that, $7.5M is a touch much. On the hope side for the 'Hawks would be a 3 year term at $19.5M, $6.5M cap hit. However, looking at the craziness the last 2 weeks, Doan could get the 4 year deal and I'd be surprised if a 4-year deal had a sub-$6M cap it.
