It's believed by many, including my Great Grandfather that the fire did indeed start in that close proximity. Though difficult to fully ascertain due to the very dry conditions & cool weather, many fireplaces were in operation at that time. Embers from several fireplaces became airborne, spread by windy conditions, so it was difficult which one(s) produced the deadly trigger and the exact location.

But yes, the area of DeKoven St a few blocks West of what we know today as the S. Loop and approx, the intersection of Jefferson St. and Roosevelt Rd.

EDIT: Amazing how its so fascinating, yet a fire, so much larger, that killed 10x more people, occurred in N. WI at about the exact same time.

The B's may bite on that 1st one due to a huge cap situation improvement for them. Leddy could be paired with McQuaid, Stalberg could slot on their 2nd or 3rd lines. The 'Hawks get their 2C and Krug can be in the 2nd or 3rd pairing. Think the B's would want to receive a pick rather than giving up one. 'Hawks need is greater than theirs, maybe a 'Hawks 2nd from '14. IIRC their 2nd-3rd round '13 picks went to WPG in the JO deal.

'Hawks still should sign Winnik for 3L and Hannan for 5D.
