Bowman has traded a "puck moving" Easton stick and CCM helmet to the Islanders for 2 pairs of "power" shoulder pads, a "strong" goalie chest protector, future rolls of hockey tape (only as needed), and a 2014 Bauer jock strap.
It's a great trade for both sides. The Hawks get immediate role parts and future promising needs.
Next step: sign the Eastwood "wood" stick for a Powerplay point shot and put the Cooper graphite stick on waivers.

It's really amazing - not the above trade, you must be joking - this team is ready for jock straps now, not in 2 years -
What's amazing is that while none of the young players brought up in the past two years have really proven to be consistent strong contributers, they're talking about new ones being ready - Saad, Clendenning....
How about actually bringing in guys who have proven NHL ability so that the Hawks can contend now, while the core is still viable, while letting the youngsters grow and mature on the farm, not in the NHL.

He's an elite goaltender with a market that has no demand for him. What teams are really out there that could use his services? Toronto and Chicago. He won't go to Toronto, and wants to go to Florida, who really don't need his services. It really doesn't leave much competition for Luongo's services.
So why offer anything of value to acquire him and his horrible contract when there is no demand out there for him?
It seems you've attended the Howson school of trade yourself.
By the way, I love how the Red Wings blue line corps are shaping up! - EKolb13
Ugh, if the Wings dont get the blue line figured out soon, I may have to play there next year, lol.
I agree there is a limited market for an elite goaltender. I also agree that Luongos contract is an anvil hanging around his neck. Also, he is acting like an NBA player, demanding a trade and trying to say who he wants to go to. But even with all that, he still has value more than this offer. I think he would cost a top six forward with a fairly high salary to offset the contract, who still offers something to the nucks talent wise.

You must of graduated with honors from the Howson School of Trading if you expect to get top 6 talent back for Luongo.
Let me guess, you spell "smart" without the "A," just like Homer Simpson.

Think again
They aren't getting any top 6 forwards, its gonna be some project players (frolik) or salary dumps (olesz) or project prospects (beach) going the other way. The longer this goes the bigger distraction Lu will be. just wait, the canadian media will have a field day with this once the season starts and hes not traded. Gonna be some big locker room issues. Almost 10 mil for 2 goalies

What I didnt get across well is nobody but nobody is going to take Luongos contract without dumping one of their own mistakes back the other way. The Nucks need forwards, not insulting anyones intelligence by saying it has to be something like Luongo for Scott Gomez or Wade Redden or anything like that, just saying the Canucks will have to take on someone elses over priced player for Luongo to make the trade work.
I really see Luongo going to the east or staying in Vancouver. They are still an elite level team, there is no reason to load up a western conference rival unless they are getting solid talent back and Chicago would be fools to do so.
Morning Eli and Ogie...Off to the Greek Fest here in Duluth today, so hold down the fort with the Luongo and Kane proposals. I'm getting gyros, Stan might not be doing things, but I will...

The longer the summer drags on, and the longer Semin is available, the more concerned I get that McDub will get Stan to sign him as the summer "splash" that is advertised as the significant improvement Rocky is rumored to want.
My final thought of the morning for discussion is about Jake Chelios and other prospect camp invitees. Does Stan sign Chelios or any of the other invitees to a deal? opinions?

You could be right. You know they will make at least 1 big signing to show they did something. But like most I feel something will go down before ths friday's convention.

Stan is trying but the other gm's and players agents aren't playing fair causing stan to pout about how hard life is for him
