Why would anyone care about this? If anything I think it would be better to lose to a team that wins its first than a team like Detriot who wins it all the time.

This has Sather and NYR written all over it. Sather has a history of giving out bigger overpaid contracts and they have been looking to add scoring. Doan fits their style of play and they have been looking into him. Gaborik is out until around December and will need immediate scoring help.

They are probably fed up with the asking price for Nash and Ryan
