Just to throw in the Chicago opinion on Burrows vs Sharp (and I'm sure you can tell which way I am going to lean) but we'll keep our Cup-winning assistant captain and pass on the hair-pulling hand biter. Not trying to troll but I don't think Vancouver and Hawks will be making any deals any time soon.

Yet you just did.

You could have written that post in a respectable, hockey opinion way, but maturity is required for such poise.

Thanks!

Rather have a hair puller biter than a WWE wrestler throwing peoples elbows.

How is Keith's training with the Rock going, anyways?

I'll take dirty shots over intent to injure any day.

Yeah that play was not okay. At the time, and especially after the Torres hit, I would have been okay with Keith getting suspended even into the playoffs. I'd rather see Hawks lose than people get hurt (i am not a fan of Carcillo either). Anyway, we'll keep Sharp and the People's Elbow and you keep Burrows and we'll call it a day.

Oilers should trade Hemsky to the leafs for Gardiner+ 2013 2nd....

I mean all last month we heard about how much Gardiner and Schultz wanted to play together...this trade would make that dream come true.

IMO, neither are necessary for success. I think most people forget that if it weren't for bad luck & bad coaching, our "well balanced" defensive corps would have won a cup (sans a "legit" #1 d-man).

Now our guys are older, wiser, and more experienced. I say figure out the scoring consistency problems on that 2nd line, upgrade the 3rd line C, and leave the D as-is.

Pker2theend

To Florida: Luongo, Kassian, Jensen, 1st round pick

To Van: Kulikov, Goc, Huberdeau, Theodore

Scooby_Doo

To Florida- Luongo and Raymond
For
To Vancouver- Versteeg (signed), Theodore, Howden and a 3rd rd pick

VANTEL

To Chicago- Luongo 5.3, Burrows 2.0, Higgins 1.9, David Honzik (6'3 Czech goalie prospect)
Total 9.2

To Vancouver- Sharp 5.9, Crawford 2.6, Shaw 565 K
Total 9.1

My Thoughts- Vancouver is not dealing Burrows just to move Lu out and get Andrew Shaw. In my opinion, Burrows is as good as Sharpe, and Lu is better than Crawford. Higgins for Shaw isn't terrible, but it's not happening.

To Vancouver- Blum
For
To Nashville- Raymond

My Thoughts- I like this deal. Blum is actually a player that I would send an offer sheet to, but if the Preds would take Raymond over a 2nd rd pick I'd do it.

Mitchel Hughes

To Toronto- Luongo, Raymond, and Ballard
For
To Vancouver- Lupul and Komisarek

My Thoughts- I've been a fan of a Komi for Ballard since last year, and that is a move that I would gamble on working. I think Komi brings the toughness, size, and nastiness that Vancouver needs. If we're talking bad contract, for bad contract I think it is worth the risk. Now, Lupul for Lu and Raymond, that is a bit tougher for me to swallow. I'd like to see an Ashton, Colborne, Biggs, Finn, Percy, Ross, Blacker, or even a Broll put in this deal.

Denis Bourke

To Vancouver- MacArthur, Bozak, Gardiner and a 1st
For
To Toronto- Luongo, Raymond, Ballard, Edler and a 1st
Then
To Anaheim- Edler, Raymond, Kadri and a 2nd
For
To Toronto- Getzlaf

My Thoughts- My first question is, if that package gets you Getzlaf, why wouldn't Vancouver just put a deal together for him and bypass the Leafs? Vancouver could then deal Luongo and Ballard to Toronto for Gardiner and MacArthur if the Leafs want those players.

That's a wrap.

You dramatically overestimate the value of Luongo and his ridiculous contract.

Look I'm just looking at it realistically at the moment Lu is not a good fit for FLA the team is pretty set in net and it's not like we are hurting for a goalie. Now TOR on the other hand is a different story.

Plus Theo has a NTC and doesn't want to leave anyway

- Crazycaboose

Tampa was the logical fit and that didn't work out, leaving Chicago and Toronto as the only two big contenders IMO.

Chicago could win another cup if they got some goaltending, and have replaceable assets, and good prospect depth so that's the trade that makes sense to me. However it could make the Blackhawks a very dangerous playoff team (if they are not already) so Cannuks may not want to do that.

The leafs are loaded with middle tier unproven prospect talent in most positions including goal, Kadri, Colborne, Scrivens, Frattin Mckegg, Gardiner plus their 3 first round picks from the last 2 years! Toronto is also not a playoff team yet (maybe we are with Lou?) and were the youngest NHL team over the last 2 years. i think management is prepared for another rough season and don't want to make a big risk right now. Unless the Vancouver simply wants to unload Lou for nothing i don't see him in TO

So are you calling Dale Tallon a lier when he says he has had ongoing discussions with Gillis about Luongo?

you must have missed the first few pages... Leafs have no talent and aren't even rebuilding, so those names you listed, none of them will play in the nhl because nucks fans say so. besides we're not rebuilding with the 2nd youngest team 2 years running, we're just goin with the flow

If a GM says something to the press it probably isn't true. Florida's goalie of the future is Markstrom, and the future may start this season.

Why would Tallon lie about having conversations with Gillis? Tallon himself said he did, and all major sports networks have confirmed.

I could see him lying and saying he didn't have conversations with him, but what does he gain from saying he has, when he actually hasn't had any talks?

Tallon has also gone on record saying he doesn't think Markstrom is ready, and wants him to play another year in the AHL, so...

Edit: My bad. It was Mike Santos, FLA's assistant GM, that said Markstrom wasn't ready. Point still stands, though; FLA is not sold that Markstrom is ready.

Left field idea for a slow day - reducing the number of playoff teams to 4 in each conference (no freebies for division winners).

It struck me after watching the Euros that the NHL playoffs are just too long. It's literally twice as long (2 months) as soccer's world and European cups, the Olympics, the Tour de France, etc. Hockey has a 6 month, 82 game season which only serves to eliminate 14 teams from further competition. I think the season would be a bit more meaningful if only 8 teams were actually qualifying for the post-season. It would give the playoffs a far more elite feel and cut it down to 1 month of intense hockey. Of course the revenue would take a hit.

Don't know how well that would work. Part of winning the SC is that it is a grind-it-out marathon. I think it's more likely they shorten the regular season by a dozen games, or so.
