Better them than us spending that kind of coin on a one-way, albeit dangerous, offensive defenseman. At least the term isn't a killer. Can you imagine if Green got a six-year deal or something? With his concussion history? Ouch.

I remember the Green that played against us in the playoffs.

Never once was scared when he had the puck on the blueline, I remember Girardi annilhilating him and thinking he was dead once.

whatever happens, i have full faith that sather will make the right move.

he's a trade master so if he pulls off a trade, i'm confident it will be at least even if not in our favor.

if he doesn't make a trade, then it was obviously too high of an asking price and nothing could've been done.

best case scenario: sign doan or semin
worst case scenario: sather caves and trades one of the "untouchables" for nash (not gonna happen)
most likely scenario: we go into next season with the same roster

IF there is a season, and the club stands pat, with the spector of Gaborik out until at least Decemeber, probably longer, the Rangers will stuggle to make the playoffs as most of their main competition have imporved.

I think the Devils, Penguins and Flyers have all actually taken a hit to be honest

I think something will get done... with either Nash or Semin.

Semin probably wont happen until the CBA thing is sorted out, cause if there is no season or any kind of delay, his ass in on the first flight to Russia.

Then theres the awkwardness that will happen if Nash doesnt get traded and he shows up at training camp. That franchise is going to get a whole hell of a lot of attention, and probably not the kind you want... and guess what, hes going to skate out there still wearing the 'C'. That locker room could be a disaster area if hes not moved, and if he sits out like Zherdev... I think he has to pay something like $27,000 per day.

if nash doesn't report does his contract become nullified? similar to how wade redden can just stop showing up to the whale and become a UFA?

Devils appear to have taken a hit, but somehow they're always there at the end. I think Brandon Sutter is an excellent center, they won't miss Staal, if Crosby is healthy. Flyers? They're not done making moves. Someone is going to have to show me where the Rangers goal scoring is going to come from. And let's not just pump up the remaining players goal totals

Devils = lost Parise, lost Oates and Robinson... I have a feeling the chemistry there is going to be in the crapper now.

Flyers = lost Carle and Jagr, defense is even worse now.

Pens = lost Michalek (not a big deal), lost Staal (this could hurt)

not really, Parise missed most of the season the year before last and the Devils missed the playoffs. They had him last year and they made the finals. Now, gone for good. Marty is another year older.

Rangers do need more scoring, but I think the younger players are going to keep improving.

I still think the Rangers are the team to beat in the East like they were last year.

Hope you're right, but I have my doubts. So many things went so right for the Rangers last year, it's gonna be hard to top that without legitimate goal scoring. This of course if we even have a season....

yea a lot will rely on that.

i'll ask again because i think my post got buried:
if nash doesn't report to training camp and refuses to play, does he become a UFA similar to how wade redden would become a UFA is he refused to show up for the whale?

Thing with the Devils is they didnt just lose Parise, they lost Oates and Robinson which I think will hurt them a lot more than just losing Parise.

I posted about this up top.

If he refuses to play and sit out... he will have to pay something like 27,000 per DAY. However he does not become a UFA.

ah i thought you meant that he would have to forfeit 27k per day of salary owed to him not that he actually had to pay it from the money he's already earned.

The specifics of where that money is coming from Im not sure... this is what Portzline wrote:

Nash not showing up for camp would be a bold move, and an expensive one. Per the agreement, he would be fined $27,636.36 for each day of camp he misses, or 1/275th of his $7.6 million salary for the 2012-13 season.

Rangers made an offer to Nashville for Weber two weeks ago, and were making preparations to sign him as soon as a trade was made.

saw on nhl.com/facebook that most people think we are most likely to repeat as division leaders again, so maybe you're right

Wouldnt be surprised if most of the guys I mentioned were part of it. Staal, Stepan and Miller probably being the main parts of it.

yeah, i would like weber on this team but not if it's going to kill the teams depth. we already lack scoring, trading steps would only add to that problem.
