You know what's funny is that last offseason the Rangers and Flyers both made big FA signings, Richards loves NY and had success while Bryz basically regretted signing in Philly....was Weber conscious for the last 12 months? |

Well the point is, you get the best Dman in the league... and hope that he helps the rest of the defense and goalie out.
With the trade for Schenn and maybe the addition of Weber, that D could right itself and Bryz will be the benefactor. |

I love Weber and think he would have been great in New York, but I am not to upset he chose elsewhere. That wasn't a big need for the Rangers. With Erixon on the way this year and hopefully McIlrath in a year or so, Rangers should focus on trying to upgrade the top 6. |

See my offer sheet submission for: Kane, E. (WPG)
6 year contract.
yr 1: 1m salary, 9m signing bonus
yr 2: 1m salary, 9m signing bonus
yr 3: 3m salary
yr 4: 3m salary
yr 5: 3m salary
yr 6: 3m salary
No way WPG can afford to pay Kane 9m if the season starts locked out. |

No, your 100% right, we didn't have a dire need for him but the way it played out is comical, I am still liking my idea of sending Vorocek an offer sheet, Philly can't match without jamming themselves up, so either way it's a win, plus if we can get him for under 3.4 million it's a steal, compensation wise and $ value. |

That game is tricky though. You start pissing off other GMs it could come back to bite the Rangers with players like McDonagh, Stepan, Kreider etc, down the road. |

They've been aggressive in their stance that they'll match anything, again worth the try, you can either steal a player or jam up the other team |

That is true...they are kind of in a holding pattern now til next Wednesday. Might be a chance for teams to pounce on him. |

That's not a chance I'd like to take, Philly does it and Simmonds wouldn't get an offer sheet next season but we do it and it open season on Mack Truck. |

If Sather is smart, he will be working on extensions for Stepan and McDonagh as soon as this crap with Nash, et al., is over with. |

Just read Weber's comments about living in Manhattan, these guys a just flat out cowards and can't face the pressure, how does Philadelphia appeal to you compared to the City, players obviously don't take fan bases into account either, good luck if Nashville passes(doubt it though) - HankdaTank
Have you ever visited other cities? New York isn't a place many people would choose to raise a family. Even lifelong New Yorkers sometimes move to Jersey or the Northern burbs to raise their kids. He doesn't want to live in Manhattan--it isn't a lifestyle that appeals to lots of people. And he felt living in Westchester would isolate him from his team mates. Instead of getting your feelers hurt because he's self aware enough to know he'd be unhappy, be glad he didn't come and be miserable.
Other cities aren't remotely like Manhattan as PLACES TO LIVE. He wasn't talking about fan experience or the team. It isn't pressure. It's quality of life. I love living in the city but I know well enough I wouldn't love living in THAT city. Sorry--but the level of noise, congestion, sheer number of people is on another level from any other U.S. city. He isn't even someone who really wants to live IN a city. In Philadelphia the team mostly live in Voorhees and near there. No city living, no isolation from team. |

By the way, keep in mind an offer sheet compensation is calculated as the entire value of the contract divided by five years.
That deal would be 6.4 million. Still stays within the range of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, but just keep that in mind. If you went off of last years compensation, it would cost you an extra first. |
