Everytime I see one of these minor deals between teams, I wonder whether they were talking about something bigger. |

Pete, that scenario makes us an unbelievably dynamic team but it would be cap hell over the next few years with virtually half our team coming off the books. Hopefully the cap doesn't go down. |

gives a powerplay quaterback that is familiar with Torts and his system. I'm not in love with bickel being a regular in the top 6.
i would like
mcd girardi
staal boyle
mdz stralman
bickel
then you could put boyle on the point on the 1st unit and have mdz and stralman on the 2nd unit. - tomburton99
could work but i think trading erixon would be a huge mistake. he's gonna be a stud and boyle is on the decline and won't be around in 2-3 years.
mcd - girardi
staal - mdz
erixon - sauer
stralman
for all we know, sauer could potentially be ready to play at the end of the summer. if not, then i expect that he should be back around the trade deadline. |

Dunno I think that's the best lineup I've seen...
Doan on the third line just shows the true depth we'd have.

what this means is we needed to trade a contract away because we will be adding another one soon.

No doubt, the summer of 2014 would be a very tough one for the Rangers. It would be probable that they would lose a player or two to Unrestricted Free Agency that they would want to keep. But, that's two years away, I think that the Rangers could manage their cap until then, and the idea of taking a two year shot with a stacked roster is intriguing to me. Not to mention, if the Rangers have to lose let's say Gaborik in the Summer of 2014, so be it. It happens to everyteam at some point. |

A 2way contract?, I thought he was a good depth player, I hope you're right though. |

In one of my first posts, I said sign Doan, trade Dubinsky for Fisher, and then trade Stepan, Erixon and a 1st for Nash. Most have said that they would do the first two deals, but not the last.
Hence, the last post. I have a hard time believing that anybody wouldn't love to bring in Nash, Fisher and Doan, at the price of Dubinsky, Stepan, Erixon and 1st being on the outgoing train. - Pete V
pretty sure Columbus can get a better offer for Nash than that.
and what makes you think you'll get Fisher for Dubie? His value has plummeted over the last year or so |

I think there is a rule about having 50 total contracts including AHL
something like that |

Mike Fisher is 32 years old and is a career 40-50 point player, who is a UFA next summer. Brandon Dubinsky is in his mid-20s, is tied in for three more years, and is only one year removed from being the top scorer on the Rangers. He had a terrible year, but Fisher ain't Wayne Gretzky either, which is why there is a serious question as to whether he would be an adequate short term replacement for Stepan. I think Dubinsky for Fisher makes a lot of sense (if the Rangers intended to move Stepan).
I do think your right that Stepan, Erixon and a 1st woudn't be enough for Nash. Would probably take another piece. Which, IMO, makes it even more curious that some wouldn't even do that deal for Nash. |

in terms of the jakcets getting a better deal for nash. Sens offered a 1st, zibanejad, lehner and another prospect. Nash said he wouldn't waive his nmc to go to ottawa. |

The reason why I am targeting Fisher is that he has one year left until he becomes an UFA, he doesn't have a no trade clause, and given Nashville's possible desire to rebuild and his UFA status, he might be able to be had. Not to mention, it is clear that the Rangers and Predators have been talking alot, first at the draft with the couple of draft pick deals that they made, and now with Fisher. - Pete V
Fisher does not want out of Nashville, he went there to be with his family. He has a limited NTC, but he will not want to be traded. |

I think Stepan has a extremely high ceiling. That is why I would not include him in any trades. I see him being our #1C in a few years. Thats just me. |
