He's all about entertainment anyway. Seems to be little substance to any of his reporting. We Ranger fans are so wound up waiting for something, anything to happen that any time he mentions a rumor or something we get all amped up. I wish he would just keep his mouth shut. - gkmkiller
If some schmo said something about Malkin to the Rangers, twitter-verse would explode then implode because of the boredom and waiting. |

I just want Doan and Semin signed somewhere and Nash and Ryan traded somewhere so we can all move on. - mrhattrick27
so you're saying you want the luongo watch to take on full force and you want the start of the weber watch along with the perry watch, getzlaf watch, and iginla watch to come.

Semin is an interesting player and he will get an offer from a few NHL clubs. The problem I've been reading is that Semin and his agent seem to think Semin is worth more than the majority. A player who has declined offensively over the past 2 season and is strictly an offensive player should expect a decline in salary as well. A 2 year deal at $5 mil per is very reasonable and one that Semin should embrace. With that being said, I believe either the Wings or the Penquins will be Semins next place of residence and if so, he will flourish in those two systems. More so with Pittsburgh than Detriot in my opinion. As for the Rangers as a possible landing place for Semin, very very very very unlikely as his style of play and committment to defense doesn't fit into the Rangers style of play. While offensive skills would be a major benefit to the Rangers, his overall game would be a problem. |

due to the Knicks losing Linsanity, I read this in the Post today:
"Madison Square Garden stock saw a 64-cent drop on Monday that equaled a market capitalization loss of roughly $49 million"
well, seems to me the Rangers need to make a big move now to fix that, doesn't it? |

Looks like it would have been worth their while to keep Lin just from a $ stand point. |

have been mentioning that a lot and further indication that not bringing him back was mainly spite and nothing to do with the luxury tax |

Reading Friedman on CBC and I can't imagine Boyle's value is through the rough right now. I wonder if the Sharks would go for something like that if they fail to sign Doan. |

Rangers take on 2.4 million more a year in this proposed trade.
Boyle has 2 years left on deal, Dubi has three. |

I just read the Rangers Gaborik for boyle almost happened. And ESPN's John Buccigross proposes that a "Boyle for Marian Gaborik trade (with the New York Rangers) almost happened". |

It makes no sense though from either stand point. Why would San Jose deal for a player likely out of action until December and why would the Rangers give up their best goal scorer when they've spent the summer embroiled in rumors to acquire another goal scorer in Rick Nash? I suppose if the plan is to add Boyle to the D and then acquire Nash then maybe but the asking price for Nash is two NHL forwards plus. If the Rangers make the Gaborik/Boyle deal and then acquire Nash for Dubinsky and another forward the Blue Shirts would effectively have traded a 40-goal scorer a top-six F and a top-nine F. The goal I thought was to get more scoring and add depth. Those two trades don't accomplish that IMO. |

yup, because it has nothing to do with spite and was solely a financial decision to cut him loose, stupid organization |

But seriously, don't you think the stock will rebound soon enough anyway? I can't believe people are that crazy about Lin that they would sell stock in MSG just because he left town. If that was an offer sheet directed at a ranger RFA my first inclination would have been the same; let him go. MSG owns the Knicks but they have to make decisions or should make decisions based on what they feel is good business for them and not for the parent company. Supposedly that last year was supposed to be like a $23 million cap hit or something?
I don't know, i just can't believe Lin got the money he got and how it has affected the stock of MSG. Both are just nuts. |

knicks already have 3 PGs under contract. lin's crazy contract was expensive tbh and the luxury tax is pretty brutal. |

Not that I'm a b ball guy at all, but from what I was reading the Knicks were also afraid if they matched the Lin offer sheet how it would effect the other premadonna guys in that lockeroom to have this still new guy get so much $ for doing very little. Makes sense too even though I would say F Carmelo & Stodamire, etc. Such egos on all these guys. |
