Sekera: 2G

Kevin, that Edmonton argument is a slippery slope.

I want Z to go where Z wants to go. He's not going to be a Sabre next year so it's all pretty relative to me.

One would think the org would give him the correct choice. at UV how much would he develop? Would it be more at Rochester, yes I know one is pro one is not but some colleges have great dev programs.

it is his choice. If he doesnt sign a contract he cant go to Roch.

How about:

Vanek / Hodgson / Pommer
Foligno / Ennis / Stafford
Ott / Leino / Tropp
Gerbe / Girgenson / Kaleta

Myers / McNabb
Ehrhoff / Leopold
Sekera / Regher

John Scott is the 13th forward, McCormick in Roch or as 4th line center if Girg is not ready, Luke Adam could fill that spot too.

Weber traded, Pardy waived or in Roch, Sulzer as 7th d man.

you got some questions there....

Leino is a HORRIBLE center.. why do you want him back in that role..

your top 6 are correct... but if Girgensons makes this team.. he will be 3rd line between Ott and Leino.

Gerbe/Tropp/Scott - McM/Porter - Kaleta will be the 4th.

I wouldn't count on Weber being traded. He's best friends with Ott and we need guys on D who will stick up for the team mates. Weber was the only one who would last season. Win or lose, he'll stick up for his team.

Leino at center... no unless we have no other option ( we have many now)
McCormick would have to clear waivers I think if sent down.

Epic game 2 of my regular season: Miller allows 3 goals in the 2nd period for a 5-2 loss, after a 6-1 win in game 1.

I dont want leino on the team, let alone at center. I doubt Lindy will give a rookie a shutdown defensive role on the third line. That's why i have it that way. unless we trade we have no one to ffil that role besides Leino and Ott. Ott is a LW just like leino. So should he have to switch positions in order to center? do you really think Lindy would give the 3rd line center to an 18 yo? I think Luke Adam has a better shot at third line center than Girgenson.

Anyways... I think mine is more realistic than yours. If we go into cam with this same roster, i bet i am right.

That third line seems more like a grinding line with offensive upside if it's
Ott - Girgensons - Leino

Ott can even take draws and then let Zemgus play the center role. The biggest problem is where Leino fits - - doubt anyone will take him in a trade and it would send a horrible message if Leino was sent to Rochester after one season.

Someone said that when Leino was asked who were the two players he would like to play on a line with, he said Kaleta and Gerbe because of how hard they worked every shift. The scouting report on Ott is that he never takes a shift off and Girgensons gives it his all every shift. Ott and Girgensons also hit and will battle in the corners, opening up Leino for offensive chances; these two have the same work ethic as Kaleta and Gerbe, but with much more talent.

I'd give Grigorenko a ten game tryout and drop Girgensons back to the fourth line during those ten games; Grigorenko is talented and showed it during the practices at development camp, but seemed to struggle in the scrimmage (except for threading the needle on an assist in the third period). In the post game interview, he admitted that it was his first game since recovering from mono. I say let him work for the next summer, show up to camp and preseason, and then see how he fares against the real pro's during those first ten games.

yes he would. But do you really think he is in the top 12 forwards on this team? Is his toughness still needed with Ott, Scott and McNabb also on the team? Barring trades what do you think would happen?

Vanek
Pommer
Stafford
Ennis
Hodgson
Foligno
Ott
Leino
Kaleta
Gerbe
Tropp

are all better than McM.

So he is in competition against Luke Adam, Girgenson, Grigorenko, Matt Ellis, John Scott, Kevin Porter and Mark Mancari for that final spot. Lets say Scott is the 13th forward. That still leaves 6 players all probably better than him in for that last spot. His only saving grace is that he adds the toughness. Is that still needed? IDK

Compare what Leino had in Philly and try to find equivalents here (just as a fit). Would Girgensons and Ott be (close to) equivalent of his linemates in Philly the season before we got him?

I won't claim to know anything about Girgensons, or much about Ott even, but I think between them they could be similar to a Briere (minus some offense, but Girgensons is a wild card still).
