You are figuratively literally correct.

Actually, as you can tell, I don't respect him. Howard and Angelo have developed these on air personalties where sports is secondary and entertainment comes first. His gimmick is to be pompous and insulting. To simply call him a journalist is highly innacurate. He hosted a radio show where he provided "analysis" and offered opinions. While I can't say I have listened to him more than a half dozen times, it didn't take much to see through his little act.
As with anything, that will draw some fans, and if you enjoy that sort of thing, go for it! He's the man! - Daman
You have to carve a niche for yourself. And obviously, whether you are a fan of them or not. They did something right. As they both earned 7 figure annual salaries to do what we do on this site for free. And that's talk sports. |

Are you suggesting that he is only a journalist? When he appears on TV, does that meet the definitions you provided?
I will, however, forgive all the hostility. I would prefer to read Bill any day of the week - someone with extreme knowledge of a sport. You can,of course, follow whom you choose. - Daman
No, you inchworm.
I said, verbatim, that he's a good journalist.
Where does that imply that I believe that is his only job title? In fact, I said previously that he's generally a poor analyst.

The NHL's reported initial CBA proposal suggests that the players should reduce their share of the revenues to 46%, down from 57%. The NHL also wants five-year entry-level contracts, an elimination of salary arbitration, no contracts in excess of five years, and players to spend 10 years in the NHL before their eligible to become unrestricted free agents. As big as those changes are, keep in mind that this is only a first offer. The NHL and NHLPA have a lot of negotiating ahead of them and it's not surprising that the league would ask for far more than their likely to get.

So I'll go back to the recent piece on NBC news. He said that Anaheim wanted Gus, Read, and a 1st for Ryan. He then said the Flyers were unwilling to make that offer.
Do you believe that to be true? Or perhaps you may think I am lying.
Or perhaps the reality is he is joke?

I dunno why you hate him so much, He has sources that are reliable, big deal. It's like if anyone says anything positive you need to feel like you need to justify your hate, seems immature. Its ok, life goes on |

It's like when you go to buy a car, and you ask for the price. The salesman gives you the price on the window at first. The league has no prayer of getting all of that.

Yup. That's why it's a negotiation. Just hope they can agree on terms bc if there's a lockout this sport will be damaged. |

No he's not The Man. He's a well connected guy that gets information that generally turns out to be accurate.
I don't care about his gimmick or his knowledge of the sport. I care that he obviously has some really good sources who feed him legitimate information.
Your inability to grasp the difference between liking and/or respecting a reporter or simply recognizing that he does manage to provide valid information is kind of staggering.
Is he correct 100% of the time? No, absolutely not. But he has reported several big things that have either come to pass(Richards, Carter & JvR) or that were 100% right(Pronger's wrist and concussion and Carter's knee in the 2011 playoffs) which nobody else had or would report.
I don't respect Eskin's on air persona. I agree he doesn't know much about hockey. But you're simply ignorant if you don't think he has numerous sources close to the Flyers that feed him information. To ignore that because of his schtick is choosing to be less informed. |

While I agree that it's only a first offer, starting negotiations with such a harsh proposal seems to be counter productive. |
